What's the rule when no 3 ball foul, and both players refuse to shoot?

Sounds like 2 D players locked in battle

Sounds like 2 D players locked in battle! Can you give us the example you speak of as far as the table layout? I would just ride the 9, there's always that. If it's 8 ball just tie it up worse with another ball.

It normally happens in 8-ball when you have one player on the 8 and another player on their last ball. The 8 is right in the jaws, and the last object ball of the opposing player is frozen to it making it impossible to hit.

The player on the 8 cannot hit the ball, and the player on their last ball cannot touch their ball without making the 8. Neither will make a legal shot, it will end up being a rerack with the same player who broke breaking again.

Both players are declared gigantic pussys and the 3rd place player gets the cash for being the best player who went down swinging!

Saved me some typing right there.....

In the described senario "last ball frozen to the 8 in the pocket" Stalemate. Rerack and rebreak.

So how would you play it in the situation that Celtic described, whether you were on the 8 or the remaining colored?

cant say for anyone else..........

I SHOOT IT................PLAY JAZZ..........jump the cb onto the rail and ride it and clip the top make the 8 and grab the cash..........

99999 times it probably wont work.........but the 1 time it happens your legend would live on forever

but when its your shot you shoot..........

WHY? because there is no TIE in pool games or sets........you win a game or lose a game or win a set or lose a set.......

ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST PLAIN CHICKEN SH*T

funny

that is hilarious and DOES need to be on a tshirt. If the person whose shot it is refuses to shoot, then he loses the game - period.

I see your point, but what if it is in a team competition? You do have some responsibilities to the team to do everything you can to do what is in the best interest of the team. I don't think playing a shot that is 99.999% gonna fail is the right shot, especially if a stalemate (allowed for under the rules) is a better option - even in a singles event imho.

I wouldn't call chicken sh!t on the intentional walk in baseball, or spiking the ball or taking a knee in football, nor taking an unplayable lie in golf. It's allowed by the rules and if it is your best alternative, I don't see a problem.

Is there no three foule rule in eight ball? If there is first man to refuse will reach three first and loose.

He would not shoot it anyhow if he were actually IN the finals of a prestigious event at hill hill against someone who he actually wants to beat.

You cannot even do what he said, roll the cueball down the rail and hit the 8, now the cueball goes where? Drops on the table where the 8 was? And your hoping beyond all hope that it falls perfect so the cueball does not nudge the last remaining object ball that was frozen to it and get knocked in after the 8?

There is honestly no way to make either shot if it is screwed up like I said. No pro would ever play a shot there and would instead go to the re-rack.

If someone would rather in effect forfeit the match by shooting a shot that is clearly going to lose them the game instead of fighting on in the rerack for a chance at the title I cannot say I would be impressed with their sportsmanship (read lack of heart to actually attempt to win the tournament) and courage (read stupidity).

Taking a flyer like that would simply be a give up stroke. Not something most players would do, thankfully.
