Just curious whats the softest tip youve ever played with or the softest cuetip on the market today. And for those whove played with both is the kamui brown S any softer than the black SS since the blacks tend to play harder than listed.

I glued a Maxi-Pad to the end of my cue once, as an experiment.
It didn't play worth a shit, but for some strange reason I felt extraordinarily secure and confident. :)

Elkmaster. You won't get any softer than that.

Until I played with the Kamui Black Super Soft that came on my slightly used OB Classic I would say that the Elkmaster & Brunswick Blue Diamond were the softest.

The Kamui SS was so soft it was like the cue ball was sticking to it. I was told to remove a few layers & it would play into 'shape'. I did & it did. I would say it is now similiar but still a bit different than an Elk in that it is thicker so it is softer on the harder hit shots even than the Elk.

elkmaster on a ferulle-less cue. very soft but the spin is awesome.

The softest I've tried is a Rei Prestige soft tip. I have to reshape the tip every day even after playing it for over a month. It keep's mushrooming!

Cue tip

Le Pro is the softest tip I have ever played with. I learned early on that a hard tip gives you better control of english. I have shot with soft tips in trying other peoples cues, and they are 'spongy' and unpredictable. Many misconceptions exist about soft tips, and that is why so many amateurs use them. Most of the pros, a large majority, play with a medium to hard tip, and there has to be a reason why!!!

It's like comparing a normal car's steering to a sports car's steering. The sports car's steering is so much better response.

It's amazing that 30 years ago, the old French Champion used to be considered a pretty hard tip, and the old Le Professionel was considered even a harder tip. They're both soft tips today, compared to the modern Le Pro, Triangle, and every layered tip. Here's a trip down memory lane. The gray box French Champion tips were pretty soft, but firmed up after that first few weeks. The white box Champions for some reason were a bit harder. The old Crown tips, made by the same French gentlemen, were about the same as the original Champion, but with a black fiber base, rather than red. Still pretty soft, about the same as the Champion. They were all soft compared to today's tips, except for the Elk Master. Enjoy!
