What's Your Fav Ferrule & Tip Combination......

I see a thread every now and again where someone mentions that changing the ferrule and or tip will give you the desired hit you are looking for. My personal preference is a hard ferrule and a soft tip. From years of playing and different ferrule combinations I've found that the best combination I like best is an ivory ferrule and a layered water buffalo tip. Gives a nice hard hit but one with a soft touch. I hate dead feeling hits and I dont like "click" sounding hits but then again I don't like "thuds". My combination gives me something that's right in between those two. On My OB Shafts I change the tips to something on the harder side such as a sniper, given the softer feeling hit of the ferrule and the harder hit of a sniper tip makes the two a great pairing, IMHO at least.

Mine are ivory 3/4" and masonh mircarta 3/4" ferrules (both uncapped) with my milk dud tip on it of course.

I recently had another shaft made from Leon Sly , for a cue he just made me , and on this one I had him use the mason micarta ferrule about 5/8" with the everest tip, and Im likeing it so far , Im getting more out of it then I thought I would as far as feel and deflection, a very solid hitting shaft, But I really like the wizard med. lately since the moori's have changed , So I maybe changeing the tip <<<ED
