id play 2 rails off the seven to hit the 8 ball (with enough speed travel about 12 inches after quarter ball hit)....should have a shot on 8 if I hit it.....or id play 4 rails off seven trying to come off lower right rail at about 1.5 diamond.....for me, id go with second option more than first, unless im really dabbin' it.

I would play the 5 in the corner and leave myself straight on the 7 so I could power draw it three rails and impress the ladies. I would then miscue getting no draw but still lucking in the 7.
So now I have no shape so I whack the 8 as hard as possible

If I hung around AZ long enough, I knew I would run into a player that could
hit 13 rails.
Personally, I've only seen 10 rails hit, and only a few times.

I like shooting 5 at the nine leave cue ball behind the 7 and 5 on end rail
That's exactly how I'd run it.
I'd never play the 5-9. I'm just not that good at them. Especially if its on a 9 footer. I'd make it maybe 2 out of 15 tries.
I'd also never play the break out either when the 8 definitely goes into a pocket. Too high risk for my liking.
The way you've illustrated is going to give me the best chance of running out. Even if I landed the wrong side of the 8 I'd still have a simple shot, and bump the 9 into the long rail whilst following through for it. And I could always play safe behind the 9 if I didn't fancy the pot.
Yeah I didn't post that right. I meant leave the 7 behind the 8/9.
3 rail the 5 and draw the cueball off the rail towards the big 7 ball. Looking to nudge the 8-9 and leave him hooked behind the 7. Even if you don't break them up your opponent might trying to make a good hit on 5. From there you run out or lay down another hook with a bump up on the 8-9 (depending on layout).
Anything else can just end up bad.

Imma lefty, so this is no problem. If the CB rolling 2 rails comes up short, I can just kiss the 8 into the 9 (ever so softly) for a good safe. I like the 2-way option here too.
I would shoot the 5 in, draw the CB a little to the spot I painted...than play the 7 with right hand spin coming 2 or 3 rails for the 8 down the long rail...follow or draw for the 9 depends on the angle...

Fire the 5 - 7 combo to make the 7...the 5 caroms down table to break up the 9/8....then simply shoot the 5 in the lower right corner...8 in the side...9 in the same corner as the 5.....no problem..................or I may consider doing it the hard way and shoot the 7 and 8 in the same lower left corner...
Personally, I'd play for the out, with a stop on the 5 and then 8:00 on the CB to break out the 8/9. But of the more conservative approaches, this is by far my favorite. The hook plays very big because you can hook behind the 7 with the CB or behind the 8/9 with the 5. With BIH and the 5 near the 8/9, you're a pretty big favorite to get out. In fact, maybe I would play this over the runout.

You people know breaking the 8/9 up leaves you with no shot ~15+% of the time...and unable to hit the 8 7+% of the time?!

I'd place the CB a few inches behind the 5 and go full-power at the 9, trying to shoot it into the corner. Or, if I really had "one of those days", I'd try to deliver one slow accurate shot using the 5 and drop that 9 like a boss

I would put the cue by the 7 shoot the 5 in the corner with low left bringing down the rail a spinning off it into 8-9
