what's your opinions on a bumperless cue?

I don't know how you glued it in. I epoxied coins into a jp and one still fell out. Maybe the guy dropped it. If there are no weightbolt I would use a small wood scree like tad

im not gonna drill the coin!! i was being sarcastic :D:D
hey, did you get my pm yesterday????

I like the looks of bumperless on old school Hoppe styles. What I don't like is how they want to slide if you try to lean it against your case, chair, etc. I layed one on the table once to avoid any chance of harm....sure enough in the 2 seconds my back was turned my buddy grabbed it a propped it against the wall...CLANK!!! What a horrid sound when they fall on a non carpeted floor.:( I prefer the small clean SW style bumpers that I use.
I am curious though as what the difference is in feel to those who can tell. I don't have enough table time with a bumperless to have developed an opinion yet. I'm guessing a crisper sound maybe?

bumperless cues are classic. but here in the philippines, most pool halls do not have a carpeted floor and it is not really adviseable, except of course, for the player who really know how to handle his cue/s. but sometimes, bumper or no bumper, the risk is still the same as i remember one swiss visitor we had in one of the local tourneys, i let him borrow one of my PJs, it was in pristine condition but just after a little over an hour... my cues buttcap finish was cracked, with chips in other areas of the buttcap as well. i didn't charge him for it as i saw him so happy playing at his table (but emotionally excited too during missed shots haha) and i was glad i made a visitor feel welcome amidst being a foreigner. he was a nice and jolly fella anyway. but of course, the next time, i will just let him use a full rubber buttcap cue (if we can make one) .

depends on where i play

i made the cue with only 4 parts, needless to say no bumper. i play with this cue at home where i have carpet in my room, but many of the local taverns have pool tables setting on concrete floors, and there i have to have a bumper.

I like bumpers on the cues you build, same for SW. However if there is a different design then bumperless looks right, but on the majority of cues I like have bumpers. Its a cue to cue thing for me.

What this guy said.....

A few I picked up last year...

I only like Hoppe ringed cues bumper less. It seems more traditional to me.

Difference in feel when playing???

For those of you that can feel a difference between a bumper'ed and bumper-less cue:

1.) What feels different, and

2.) How much of a difference is it?
