I looknig for an upscale pool room where alot of the best players go to play. Anywhere in the US. Thanks.
Hi, Larry. Long time no see. Hope all is well with you. Here's my pick ranked in order from 1 to 4:
NUMBER 1 Because of location, this room may be where "players" play nearest your location. It is in Glen Burnie, "Big Daddy's Billiards." The guy that used to work at the pool room in Arnold (Bill and Billie's), Richard Molineiro, opened this one up a few years ago. You'd recognize him if you saw him. I do think they have a weekly tournament there. So you might want to call them up and find out what's happening.
Big Daddy's
7954 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd, Suite #2-G
Glen Burnie, Maryland

NUMBER 2 My next pick would have been Snooker's in Providence, RI, but they moved. I have not been to the new one, and so I cannot give you a review. However, they do have some excellent players there. Driving north towards Yankee Country is not a pleasant experience, if you catch my drift. The air smells bad in Northern Jersey, the tolls are plentiful, gridlock traffic problems occur at any time of day, and the drivers on the road are RUDE and sometimes dangerous. It's every man for himself, literally.
SO, that said, I'd pick Q-Master's in Norfolk, Virginia. Anything down South, once you past Richmond, is smooth sailing ahead. In fact, there's two EXCELLENT pool rooms in Richmond that you can check out en route to Norfolk:
Side Pocket
2012 Staples Mill Rd
Richmond, VA 23230-3109
(804) 353-4018
The Playing Field
7801 W Broad St # 50
Richmond, VA 23294
(804) 755-7700

Norfolk is about a 3-hour drive, and this pool room has a long and rich history of happenings. I am sure they have weekly tournaments that you could check out.
Q-Masters

Number 3 It is only because I have read so much hype about Mike Page's Fargo Billiards and Gastro Pub that I would recommend this to you; that is, if you feel like driving. This time of year, I'm pretty sure there may be a whole lot of snow en route. So pack up your wool socks and cap for warmth. The pool looks inviting, the food ambrosial, and the people seem genuinely nice. Here's an article about Fargo Billiards from Billiards Digest magazine:

Number 4 Of course, Larry, if you've got the itch get out of Dodge City to see pool at its finest and shoot some balls with "players," I suggest waiting until January and going to the Derby City Classic. I have a feeling you'll like it a lot. Ask Parks or Jennifer, Dennis or Mike Wilson, or anybody who's been there. I'm sure they'll give it a thumbs-up. After one week there, I think I can safely say that you'll get your pool fix and a whole lot more.
The venue for DDC is here:

Here's a cute shot of Steve the Japanese media guy, J.R. Calvert of InsidePOOL magazine, and one of the nicest, prettiest, and fun lady players I've ever met, Rachel Abbink. Check out the intensity on everybody's faces at the Derby City Classic (DCC).
If you've never been there, you should go one time in your life, if you love pool. It takes me a week to recover from a trip to the DCC, but that's another story.
Ah, trip sevens is my lucky number. Later, gators. Until we meet again....
