Where were the viewers????

I wanted to make a comment on the pool world. Where were the viewers for the CD vs SVB Action Report web streaming 2 man tournament.

First of all The Action Report put together an excellent show for their second outing. The pool played was at the peak of world class. The players carried themselves as outstanding representatives. But where were the viewers?

I drove 250 miles home after being on the road all week, looking forward to watching the 1st round. It was excellent but there were hardly any viewers. I do not think there were more than 100 at any time. I think the avg was about 65-75. Why couldn't the 400 plus that watched the free ring game tourney pay the 10 bucks and support pool.

I know that JCIN and Big N need the support. I kow pool needs the support. I know it is a good value. If we want our sport to expand and to be noticed by the large media outlets then we need to support the newest most dynamic concept presented in a long time.

As for myself I will support this new pool media concept.

I agree that The Action Report has brought to the fore some innovative and creative pool ideas, i.e., podcast interviews, live coverage for action matches, et cetera.

According to the threads on this forum, there were a lot of viewers for this match-up. Sounds like it was thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Can't wait to see what's coming up in the months ahead! :)

I think there were more viewers than you realized (I hope, anyway). You were probably looking at the number who were logged into the Chatroom which I'm sure was less than the actual number viewing.

The chatroom was nice, but it limited the video to a very small box. It's too bad they couldn't have designed it to modify both the size of the chat box and the size of the video.

I was not logged in part of the time and even when I did log in, I preferred to have the full screen, which made the chat room invisible (which was fine by me). I did like the ability to chat, because it gave me instant answers when I had problems, in the beginning. It was also nice to be able to say goodnight, before I logged out.

To answer another question about who watched both nights, I did.

And yes, it was a great show that I really enjoyed!

you could always loog into the chat function here..........
and adjust the windows to allow for a larger vid screen.......

we dont use the chat here enough anyway!!


BTW... I didnt buy the PPV b/c of where I live and the time diff.... I did watch the free one... but only cause I happen to find myself at home...
then again I had to go to sleep and then catch the ending as I woke up tp go to work the next morning....

wouldnt want to pay for that amount of coverage....
 
From what i seen on here there were a few who couldnt get the feed to work and my connection is to slow or i would have got it in a heartbeat. i hung on here both days just to see the updates. Uwate gave great updates on here friday nite. And poolnut took over saturday nite with the updates. Niether one had to do that but we appreciate that they did.
 
My speed connection was way too slow. I have DSL but watching it is watching a slow motion video skipping through the scenes. It would not have been enjoyable for me. Plus I had to do the family thing on Friday and Auction all day saturday. I am an auctioneer by the way.

I bought the ppv and watched saturday for about four hours before going to sleep,
I never even looked at the chatbox.
I thought the quality of the feed was very good and there was never any lagging and I'm in Europe.

The single camera position does get a little boring after a few hours,
and I would have preferred if they were breaking towards the camera.
I really enjoyed it, Shane was putting on a clinic.

I did have problems logging in, I had allready paid on friday but couldn't log in.
I thought, to hell with it and paid again and then I was in.
I'm sure the guys at actionreport will refund me or give me a free pass for part 2. Can't wait.

I agree, the single fixed camera got a little boring and was at the wrong end of the table, but was still enjoyable to watch the match. Also, the full-screen view was kinda fuzzy...could be improved next time. Overall, great job!

I think it is sad that more people didn't purchase the feed just to support the guys that are working to make all of this possible. A lot of the people on here complain about the lack of coverage pool gets but don't contribute.

If everyone that praised the efforts and and offered their opinions would support these guys they may be able to keep this train rolling.

I wish them the best of luck and will likely purchase any future events whether I can watch them or not because I know they depend on loyal pool supporters to make this work. If I wouldn't have been able to watch any of it, I think it would have been worth what I paid for all of the interest that in brought to the board over the last few weeks.

These guys need our support and we need to give it to them. Lip service only goes so far.

Even though the match was pretty much over (80-something to 50-something) it was still worth the $10, easy.

I think there will be more viewers in the next event... (a). Because Earl will probably draw a bigger crowd, and (b). because more people know that the event went down smoothly.
It's easy to be suspicious of the first Internet PPV match up... because no one has ever heard anything about it before.
 
Would have Watched But!

Been a slow summer here at the room and my paypal account is dry or I would have bought it.
Thanks for the show anyway, I wont miss the next one for sure.

While I will enjoy watching Earl play I think it is a big gamble on the part of The Action Report. What are they going to do if something upsets Earl and he unscrews his cue or just starts banging the balls around after twenty games? I hope they put something in the contract that lets them sue him easily if that happens because I will expect a refund.

P.S. I'm assuming from your post that Earl was confirmed as the next opponent for Shane. I was only able to watch for about an hour on Saturday.

The full screen was very clear here in Kansas City. I had it on my home laptop and also connected to my Philips flat screen and we also had it on a sony flat screen at Shotters pool room and the full screen looked very clear and it was almost like being there. We accounted for four purchases and none of us used the chat feature.

Over all I though it was much better than the BCN feeds that I have purchased for the US Open and Derby City the past few years.

Just my thoughts, Thanks Again Justin and Chad you guys rock. I also purchased a ticket for Saturday night but decided I liked the PPV feed so much with Billy and Grady that I stayed home rather than drive six hours both ways.

I thought Grady and Billy were awesom and was happy that Grady only whined a little about invitational tournaments and he was making a good point. It is really hard to beat Grady and Billy, I thought Jimmy Wetch was a little rough but he was very honest and had a few good things to say about pool and gambling but he kind of forgot to describe the action.:D

Nice smooth feed here as well. I think they need to switch ends of the table with the camera, it was hard to see what balls dropped with the person breaking standing in front of it. That's not a big deal though, didn't detour any viewers. Hopefully JCIN will come give us some numbers so we know exactly how many people viewed. I will be buying the next one as well.
