Which are the weights of a Red Circle and an Aramith Tv Cup Cueball?

Some friends and I have a $100 bet on which cue ball is heavier? Red Circle or the dotted red ball.

Exact weights would be nice.

I have the aramith ball and the measle aramith ball. They both weigh 6 oz. The measle ball plays like its heavier. I've been told its because the resin compound is different in the 2 balls. I have 2 other red circle cue balls and a new brunswick centennial blue circle ball......they all weigh 6 oz. The red circle from seyberts billiards plays a little heavier than the other red circle and the blue circle ( these 2 play about the same ).
So the resin compound makes a big difference in how a cue ball plays, not the dead weight as they all weigh 6oz.
Good luck

it depends.. if they are both new and actual aramith they weigh the same...

otherwise the older one weighs less... pool balls get smaller as they are used...it's a slow wear and tear.. but it is real....

if you insist on winning the bet.. do the test at a pool hall that uses your opponents choice of ball ....grab a really worn set... and produce a brand new ball of the type you bet on

Hmm, that's interesting. I've a red dot that came with my Super Aramith set and that plays much heavier than the measles ball I replaced it with.

We've just been having this discussion over at one pocke.org. You can read the whole tread here: http://www.onepocket.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6173

Bottomline is that Bill Stroud weighed his personal RC and MB and he found the MB to weigh 10 grams less than the RC. However, another guy, Mosconiac, said he came out with 5.84 oz for the MB and 5.87 oz for the RC. But, these were pool hall balls, so mileage might be a factor in his results.

Good luck on the bet.

I weighted the measles, red circle, red logo and black logo cue balls. All are from brand new sets of balls.

The red circle was heavier than the measles by 10g.
The red logo was 15g lighter than the red circle.

also keep in mind the different red circles out there...yellowy/creme colored resin red circles...white red circles....off-white red circles...

Aloha all,

Not only do you concern yourself with the mass (weight) but also the diameter, usually atributed to different materials.

Same mass but differing diameter, than that of object balls, can produce a noticeable difference during play.

There are a ton of imitation measles balls on the market... some even have managed to have the saluc packaging..

I bought one at a local supplier and it was bigger and heavier than my brand new Centennials and red circle that came with them... I gave the measles ball away and then ordered one online it came in a different saluc marked packaging and was also bigger and heavier..... I tossed it in the closet...

I bought one at the Open from Omega and it was the same size and weight as the Centennials... I also bought several sets of the balls from Barry that saluc had sent and all of them matched up to my Centennials....

Be careful of your source.... The retailer here I got the first one from swears to me this day that he paid for it like it was a real saluc ball and didn't order it from some fly by night outfit.....

A cue maker friend and I just had this discussion. We put the MB and red cirlce on a gram scale. They were the same weight. I didn't think to get his callipers and measure the diameter.

Except for some individual variances within official spec range, why would the weights be different when both these balls are official size and weight (between 5 1/2 and 6 oz.)?

So when weighing any two individual balls, either one (the red circle or the measles) may be heavier than the other.
