Which pool player has the most "textbook" fundamentails??

Bruce Berrong

Bruce Berrong out of Athens Georgia has the most text book outs that I have ever seen.

Willie Mosconi, ...

Willie Mosconi, Irving Crane, Ray Martin for straight pool.

Earl Strickland for 9 ball.

Buddy Hall for 9 ball.

Steve Mizerak for all around before he got too fat to keep his belly out of the way.

I saw a couple of votes for niels f. and for the most part I agree. But one thing he does that is very anti-textbook is sight off to the side and below the cue. I dunno any book that recommends that. Obviously it works fine and the actual arm movement and position seem very rock solid. Maybe he's just built differently. Watch him on the kinister tapes do the rectangle of doom or whatever it is... draws perfectly straight back to almost the dead center of the table like 16 times in a row. Sick.

Someone said shane's name and while his stroke is amazing, his bridging style/bridge length throws the book out the window.

Corey makes sense though. This is a much tougher question than "which pro has the LEAST textbook fundamentals".

Are you guys kidding me?

3 pages and no mention of an obvious one.
Look up textbook fundamentals in the dictionary.
You'll see Johnny Archer's picture.

The Miz,theRifleman and Swanee are listed under smoooooth.

Johnny does do everything by the book; set-up, stance, practice strokes, follow through. It's just that he takes so damn long to do it; at least five minutes of cleaning and dusting the table, moving balls from pocket to pocket, rearranging all three pieces of chalk, and looking at the shot from ten different angles. Then he gets down on the shot and gets back up a couple of times as well. By then I want to scream at him, "SHOOT THE BALL ALREADY!"

J/K, I love you Johnny!

It's just that he takes so damn long to do it, and that's after he's spent five minutes cleaning and dusting the table, and looking at the shot from fifteen different angles. He may also get down on the shot and get back up to take another look a few times too. By then I want to scream at him, "SHOOT THE BALL ALREADY!"

I think it's a stage of perfectionism,he'll get through that.
I also think he'll win a world title in his 50's.
He'll make a fine 'elder statesman',he represents the game well.

Agreed and the same could be said to a lesser extent of Ralf. Though he doesn't have the obsessive compulsive traits of cleaning the cloth, moving the chalk, etc., he does play so slow I just can't watch his matches.

I think a pool book on fundamentals might frown upon Archer's grip (wrist curled in.) I'm just trying to stay consistent with the name of the thread...not the talent. That would exclude Efren and a billion other champs...haha. When I think "textbook" fundamentals, Danny Harriman looks about right. Again, not talking talent level, just looks.

If you didn't know, or rather for those who may not know, Neils does this because he is blind in one eye.

You know, I'd heard that but hesitated to repeat it cuz I never did confirm it anywhere. There are a handful of posts on AZB that say it and pretty much 0 references I can find on google about it. I wonder if it's one of those rumors that start just because niels happens to hold the cue that way.
