which pros will play anyone even?

Doesn't Larry Nevel claim to play anyone even?

I know Warren Kiamco will play most guys even, not sure if he asks for weight from some of the other top Phillipinos

A player not known for gambling who I suspect might make the list is Ralph Soquet

Does anyone else remember the story, after Orcullo beat Shane bad about 1 1/2 or 2 years ago, he offered Shane weight and Shane refused, but Shane told him that within a year he would play him even. In other words, he knew he would bet better, and he was fierce enough to let Orcullo know that soon he would be able to play him without weight. Does anyone remember that story?

Unless Ralph has changed in the last couple of years, he doesn't gamble

I know there was a thread from Larry himself a little while back that said he would play any American even in his home room. All he talked about was playing 9-ball I believe. From what I hear he has a pretty strong one-pocket game, so I'm curious as to who he'd play even with there.

OK When u see him tomorrow say Efren would like to play you some..When and where 10 ahead for 20 k is that good???

Tell him first he should see if he can beat Corey since he is 0 for the decade vs him...............

Think he might have been on that liquid courage again...when comment was made

My memory isn't great when it comes to all matches but I watched Frost beat Corey at the DCC a few years ago- 400-500 a game even one pocket. Corey must have been on tilt because 3 times he let Frost break back to back.

I think Frost was 3-4 games winner when they quit cause Corey had a match. Not sure if you would count that as a win. They might have broke even as I wasn't financially involved in the game. Sounds like Jaime knows better, which is probably true. Was the first time I had watched Corey play one pocket & was thinking that he could be the next great one pocket player once he learned the complete game. I never really see Corey's name in any one pocket tournaments so Jaime, does he just not like the game? Just curious.

I think most top tier players would play anyone even if they are getting staked. Playing on their on money maybe be a different story. Just my 2 cents.

Tap Tap tap!!!!!! I totally agree that few will play anyone with their own money. That is the bigest difference between the Great players from the past and players today.

I think the thread would have been better served if the question was which Pro's will play anyone even on their own Money!!!!!

Good Post!!!!!

Actually, Shane was getting the 7, and if you think he wasn't playing about the same as he is now, you could be a little off. He had just beat both Troy Frank and Tony Watson giving them both the 8 and last 2 or 3 on the same table. Not a big fan of Corey, but it wasn't even close. Just goes to show you, the day to day swings can be huge.
Not the 7...it was the 8. I watched the whole match. The match was more than 7 hrs atleast as I had to check out of the hotel on very little sleep the next day. Can't remember what time they started but it had to have been before midnight. Lost betting on Shane...who wouldn't after watching him light up Troy Frank. Go figure...

Alcano should definitely be on the list.

Efren won't play Dennis even in big matches in rotation-games.

When I was in the Philippines recently all these matches were even:

Efren Reyes - Lee Van Corteza, 10-ball (Efren won)
Lee Van Corteza - Chia Ching Wu, 10-ball (Wu won)
Dennis Orcullo - Alex Pagulayan, 10-ball (Dennis won 32-30)
Dennis Orcullo - Alex Pagulayan, rotation (Alex won 21-20)
Efren Reyes - Ronato Alcano, rotation (Efren won 15-12 (down 8-4))
Ronato Alcano - Dennis Orcullo, rotation (Alcano won 15-13)
Ronato Alcano - Fransisco Bustamante (Alcano won)
Ronato Alcano - Alex Pagulayan (Alcano won 15-6)

Alcano and Wu both refused to play Alex Pagulayan 10-ball. Alcano declined just after they played for many hours rotation. Wu didn't want to gamble in 10-ball, only 9-ball, against Alex.

Darren Appleton has said that he will play anyone in the world in 8-ball, even, but then they will have to come to England to play. I have heard that he is working with some big games here, including Shane who has been chasing Darren for a big 8-ball match.

I would believe, but I am not sure, that Niels Feijen and Mika Immonen would play 9-ball, 10-ball, 8-ball and 14-1 even against anyone.

Johnny Archer doesn't get weight from anyone! Same with Rodney, if he's playing. I don't hear anyone offering John Schmidt anything either.

If he's playing is a key phrase here in the states.

The Americans in my opinion are not putting time into the game as years past and I believe it shows in their play and gamble. So many have turned to poker and golf, just trying to make a few bucks. I don't see any cure to this in sight.

No he likes it and is very good at it his style is very different because he knows so many stack shots ..he can make balls just come out of the stack and go in its amazing...

Scott might have won a few games but everytime they have played a big set Corey has beaten him...I know of 2 big sets at the derby he won a 6 ahead and an 8 ahead one time...

I think him and Chohan are gonna play a TAR match..

Corey and Chohan? Now that would be an interesting match up!!

curious if Appleton was referring to UK style 8 ball, no chance in hell he beats Efren on an American 9 footer

I remember Quienten Hann came on here and challenged John S to an all round event, even, and John S pretty much backed out

I'm wondering if Daryl Peach has any gamble in him, same with Roberto Gomez

When did this happen? I remember the woofing online but didn't realize anything actually happened in person.

hi

no,what he wants is the 9 playing 10ball from you.you break too good for me chris and your solid under pressure. if you put me on the spot and ask to play even i will but i could find easier game than you for sure. here is what i propose. race to 100 for 20,000.i know you like your end of it and i dont blame you. we can play soon but you have to bet at least 20,000.the more i think about it i will play you a race to 200 10ball or 9ball for 50,000.win by ten.let me know.also for the record the 50 dimes can and will be raised if you say yes.heres your chance chris to really make a score.what else could you ask for

Can we please have an "undercard" match so we can listen to you complain every 3.284552 seconds about the balls being dirty or something stupid like that? No offense, it just got old really quick. You are a good announcer, but go off or overboard about the same things.

hi

yeah i did go overboard about the balls being dirty.its something i hate .anyway ill try to never bring it up again thanks.frankly i was not in a good mood and stressed out because i had to play a big match next day and should not have commentated.the fact that the players are clueless about how bad the table plays and refuse to clean things makes me wonder.

you saying that bringing that up is stupid i dont appreciate but im used to it. if pros dont understand its effect how can people watching at home.

I heard a story. That Orcullo offered any american the 7 ball excluding Johnny and Rodney and that had the 8 ball.. This was a couple of years ago at the Derby.. =)
