Which plays tougher and which would you rather play on more?

9ft Diamond pro-cut 4.5"

9ft GC3/GC4 4.25" pockets

Not enough info on the tougher part.

I would rather play on a Diamond...even though I was raised on GCs.

I guess it all depends if the GC was tightened correctly. I would say the tighter pockets would be a little tougher to make balls in the long run. (New cloth and worn cloth)

But for me, having owned a GC tightened to 4.25" by Mark Gregory, I still would rather play more on a diamond pro-cut 4.5". But you can't get much better than having a GC done right. They do look better IMO.

Tougher table

When the tables are setup the same the Diamond table will be easier to play on since the rails are faster thereby requiring less power and stroke. A lot of players like the Diamonds simply because they play better on them.

All of them

They all seem to play tough for me, especially the Diamonds.

Tight pockets and deep shelves kick my butt!

I played on a table mark did when i was on a little trip to ga. It was sweet.

the toughest table is one you are playing on and you are down 8 to 1 in a race to 9 for the cheese.

diamonds are too tough for me

i like larger pockets
but the diamonds seem to bank funny and come off the rail goofy

I prefer Gold Crowns. Once you know how to hit the pocket on a diamond, it's child's play. Plus, diamonds pretty much all play exactly the same. As far as consistency from one table to the next, Diamond wins. For something that will really give your skillset a workout, Gold Crown.

LOL!

I want to say that so often...and don't.

Though...it's not just about it being faster.... I do think a Diamond is "easier".

I prefer GC.

.

Run of the mill GC dont play that good though. How many people have the opportunity to get work done by Mark Gregory or KingCobra.

Tougher

ok, soooo many variables.
I don't think they are comparable to one-another.

Since you said "tougher," that will be the table with the tighter pockets. Smaller pockets require a true(er) aim since you almost lost the ability to cheat the pocket.

I like the GC's a little better only because I get a better feel for Banks on them than the diamond. I am talking about the red labels. I have had limited exposure to the blue labels.

I hear they are a little better ??

The room I use to play at had 12 Diamonds and 8 Gold Crown 1s, all set up with 4.5in. pockets. The consensus in the room was the Diamonds were tougher mainly because of the deeper shelf.
