Who all could Skyler Woodward play even against on the big tables (in 9 ball)?

LOL -

I played against Skyler for about 3 years when he was younger (maybe 15-18 years old at the time), and during that time I had never seen him play on a bar box. He only played on 9-foot tables.

Yes, BB to 9 foot is a different game, just as 9 ball and 10 ball are different games. But don't doubt he is a great player on both.

For those who doubt Skyler's abilities, talents, and attitude, you do so at your own peril.....just warning ya.

Ken

I watched him live last year at the Mosconi Cup in Vegas, he is one cool, calm and collected cat. Dude didn't break a sweat.

Justin would rob Skyler playing even on a big table.

I also think that Justin would beat Mike in a long race of rotation... I think he just plays a better overall game than Mike... and I'm not taking anything away from Mike at all....Justin has amazing composure in these long race big money matches. He hasn't lost many of these in recent memory that I have heard about.

to address a few things in this thread:

why the hate for someone who comes in and progresses through the bar table system. who cares and why does it matter? SVB was BCA bar table player and was only renowned for his 8 ball playing until around 06. Then he transitioned that form into other games and the 9ft. why is sky treated any differnt and tagged with this bar table only champion?

my view he would do just fine against anyone. woldnt beat orculklo, svb, feijen, ouschan,wu etc but who would?
he would compete with that second/thrid tier of pros on world scale.

fargo rate- jury still out

mosconi good indicator but has to be off multiple years, hows your consistency. Hatch got MVP but cant get back on the team and rightly so.

How did Skyler do in the Philippines when he had recently went?

I saw he was playing against Johann Chua, Biado, and a couple other big names.

Why cant the US boys line up to play like that here? About the only time theres a match in the US it is exhibition or they're playing to split PPV appearance fees.

Sky did not do well, if memory serves, although I think he got sidelined by a stomach bug that may have hurt his chances.

Tough action to play those monsters in their home court. Niels (who is a stronger player than Sky at the moment, IMO) was just there and he lost quite a bit more often than he won.

There are no doubt many reasons why the Pinoys line up to gamble more than the US boys. One is that the exchange rates are such that it is worth it for them to gamble for what would be pretty small stakes in the US. (races for a couple hundred US, for example). Another is just a gambling culture, and especially a "backing" culture - there seem to be lots of backers in PI who gladly put their players up against each other.

Sky was not only the crowd favorite last year but team Europes favorite player. The cheers he got after the final match was over from the Euros was well deserved.

Agreed, Shane Van Boening, Rodney Morris and Mike Dechaine would be heavily favored in any long match on the big tables, but Skyler has a very realistic chance against any other American in a match of any length.

I am curious how you think Skyler would do against Archer (in a long gambling session, or a long race, playing 9 ball on a 9 foot Diamond for example)? Archer is one of my all time most favorite players, so just curious how these 2 players would match up against each other, and what you think the outcome would be if they were playing even? Thanks.

Mike was offered to play Justin anywhere west of Cincinnati - declined.

I wonder why the area that they play at would make a difference. Did Mike decline maybe because he would only be willing to play Justin on tables that he has played a lot on in the past? That is my guess as to maybe why he declined. And why would Bergman not play him on the east coast (maybe at his home pool room)? Is it a mental thing, or what? Just curious.

I am certainly not going to speak for the players. It has been on Facebook multiple times. A neutral site was offered. Mike declined. My opinion -- if Justin would even agree to play Mike in his home room, which he shouldn't -- then Mike would argue about the balls to be used, the cue ball, the rack, the race, where to spot the 9, etc etc.

Quick - post when was the last time Mike gambled with anyone?

To me I say it looks like whatever those inconsequential Fargo ratings say is going to happen. Previous stats know a lot more about these players than I do.

Not necessarily true , unless your privy to all the info of the players matches you could easily be juked

And to those that previously in this thread were posting that people just don't know how Fargorate works.......put your money together and Oscar Dominguez will play Mike DeChaine races to 25 using the Fargorate matchup.

Be prepared to bet something.

Justin...You should probably leave the Fargo Rate discussions to those wh actually know how it works (which you obviously do not). Try to make your points based on your personal observations and/or opinions, and leave the math to those that know how it applies to players. That way, this can carry on as another one of your silly "what if" threads.

To be fair Scott, Justin did ask "am I wrong about that?". So maybe you could shed some light on his question. I'd be curious myself.

For once I read something that sounds like knowledge. Birdnuts Robs them all Race to a 100 except Shane and Mike and I still think he beats mike playing winner break rotation. That kid grinds for the cash and he ain't lost very many. Shoots as straight as any man alive.
