I think it's funny how completely OUT OF F'N touch some people are with reality. I can't begin to count all of the threads on this forum that have the topic of making pool a better known, better paid, & more attractive sport than it currently is today. Part of the reason pool is in the gutter is because Joe Q Public has this image of pool being nothing but seedy low life gamblers in pool halls hustling people. The fact that Shawn Putnam ISN'T that is what MAKES HIM A "WORLD CLASS PLAYER". How F'n stupid can you be sometimes not to see this?!?!?!? The majority of the guys on the pro tour (not just Shawn) have done what they can to distance themselves from the seedy, low life, thieving sob's of yesteryear that helped put pool where it is today(great place huh?
). "Shawn considers himself good". LOL, YO MCFLY YOU IN THERE?!?!?!?!?!? What part of winning two UPA tourney's back to back do you find "not good"? How about getting invited to the WPC, the Patriot Cup, sudden death 7 ball on ESPN, THE MOSCONI CUP.... Let me guess.... He was invited to these events because "he CONSIDERS HIMSELF good."

People should be happy to see the guys on the pro tour dressing nicely, leaving the venue after tournament play & not sticking around to gamble all night. Believe me, I love to watch action games as much as the next fan of pool but leave that to the people that WANT to do that & don't call out those that don't. Shawn Putnam, and a whole slew of other guys on the tour are doing their best to be professionals and get sponsorship and make the world think better of this sport in general....why is that a bad thing? I don't get it. For every pro that's trying to distance himself from the dark side & clean up the image of the sport, there's got to be a 100 guys out there that don't give two sh!ts about the image or sponsorship or anything else for that matter. Go gamble or try to gamble with them.... there's a plethora of them out there. I don't understand why people are calling these VERY FEW guys out for not gambling or in some cases resulting to shark tactics to win or whatever else it is that some of you insist on claiming about people that you really don't know. Here's a little didya know... I was witness to a conversation this weekend between Shawn & Dave Hemmah. It seems Dave (another heckuva nice guy on the tour) is working on getting a project going in his area where pool will actually be a subject taught in the schools. I heard Shawn tell Dave that he would love to come out there & teach. Who do you think soccer mom is going to want teaching her kids about pool? Guys like Shawn & Dave who dress nice, play the tournament, & then head to the hotel to get some rest after the tourney, or the guy that just spent all night in the pool room gambling with no ambition to do anymore than just that when it comes to pool? hmmmm, bet I can make a pretty good guess at who she's going to want teaching her kid....
I could go on but no one will read it and/or give a sh!t so I'll finish by saying this. A) try having a little respect for the few good guys out there trying to do something right. B) If you or ANYONE else on this board wants to sit in judgement of the pro's or anyone else for that matter, HAVE THE F'n BALLS to sign your REAL NAME to the nonsense that you insist on posting. I notice you had no trouble puting Shawn's name in print... I also noticed that yours was missing. Talk about people with no heart & no gamble.....
