Who did Corey Deull beat 11-0 in the finals of the US Open?

Did any of you doubt the Deadpoked? $50 richer, thank you. Once I'm not using my iPhone, and not so drunk, everyone has rep coming.

It's the only shutout in the finals of the US Open. Don't know if Corey has shut out other matches in the US Open, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Is Mika the only player Corey has ever done that to in The US Open?:)

Mika and Mika got stiffed for a year or so.
Did not get paid until the year after iirc.

He didn't get his money from US Open right away??????

Yes, definitely not. Had a hard time collecting it and I'm not sure if he ever had everything of it.
I believe some top philipinos had similar problems, that's why they didn't participate so eagerly for few years.

It's funny how people are still so blindly mad at IPT but not seeing the overall culture which pool has, especially as it seems that it's Deno running the IPT, not KT.
Like KT was still after poor pool players monies

since grady's doing the commentary i bet it's worth the cash

Interesting you bring that up about Grady. I just located my copy of what is labeled as "Accu-Stats X-Rated Commentary," and Grady and a few others are commentating.

It is a match between Keith McCready a/k/a "Earthquake" versus Gary Nolan a/k/a "Bushwhacker."

Grady is joined by several others during the commentating, and it is definitely X-rated but funny, funny, funny as can be.

This DVD is a pool player's Comedy Central, listening to all the jokes and side comments while poor Keith and Gary are battling it out on the table, unable to hear Grady, et al.

I wish I knew what year this took place. The copy I have looks like it is not a "genuine" Accu-Stats DVD, though it has the label on it. It looks as though it was reproduced or copied from a VHS tape, which back then I guess that is all they had was VHS tapes.

Back on topic of the thread, Corey Deuel is capable of beating anybody 11-zip on the face of the Earth, if he puts his mind to it. I think he, like other pool players, sometimes gets discouraged about the current state of affairs in pool, but I am looking forward to seeing him do well in UAE at the 8-ball tournament representing the United States, along with Shane Van Boening and Ronnie Wiseman. :)

I thought Ronnie was Canadian. :o

I was there that year. Noone else has mentioned that 9/11 was Tuesday of that week. Let me tell you, what a shitty feeling to have to play pool after that went down. But anyways, I'm not saying it's right what happenned, but Barry was counting on his budget being realized to pay the total purse. So from Tuesday on, he lost a significant piece of his budget on concessions and ticket sales and was unable to pay up immediately.

I agree with that statement. He was IMO the best player to come along in a long time. I just wish he would take it seriously again, he is such a pleasure to watch play. I suppose you're right he doesn't see the point of working too hard as he won't see a commensurate reward for it either in terms of cash or glory.

Corey wins 11-0

I was at the US Open the year Corey beat Mika 11-0. It was the last year the US Open allowed the SOFT break which Corey had perfected and I think that was the main reason for the 11-0 score. Corey had it down to a science and he just blanked Mika with the break and his awesome skill.

9-11 was terrible as we all know, i'll keep it limited to this tournment, it makes sence to me that Barry had a hell of a time finishing it up and paying everyone in a timely fashion, I was in the air flying between South Africa and Zimbabwe when it happened, I was out of the country for a month. Being that far away with no phone, TV, computers etc I didnt realiize what had happened for a month. When I got back and picked up the pieces of my business I suffered huge losses(nothing compaired to the victems of the tragity) but it was a hurdle for me, to even finish a tournement in the wake of that must have been brutal. I didnt know about this until know. My heart goes out to the Victems, NY Fire Dept and volenteers who helped out on the most important part of that tragity. It really hit me hard when I got back as I knew only bits and pieces of it because I was in the bush in Africa. It was the worst thing I can remember in my life and it was great to see America pull together.
