"Who Do You Like?": My Breakdown of Mika vs Shane

I think your analysis is pretty spot on Justin. Like Jay said, I think the home field will play a little stronger for Mika, but it won't affect Shane's play.

This one is too close to call. I think Shane will win, but he surely doesn't have to. This may be another set like Mills vs SVB where they both hit big runs and the score jumps back and forth throughout the match.

I hope that everyone purchases this match that has the financial means to do so. I wouldn't miss this one for anything.

One of the best player analysis posts on this forum. Tap tap tap!

Edit: Go Mika!!!!!! :)

What's their ten ball tournament record against each other? What kind of table will this be played on?

Brunswick Gold Crown. New green 860 Simonis on it. Here is a pic of the pockets on the table they are playing on:

As far as the record I dont know with any precision. That last few times I can remember they met towards the end of tournaments Mika has won.

Mika on a Gold Crown like that is like Jordan with the Flu versus the Jazz in the finals.

I really might end up sitting this one out or just sweat it for like $200 or lower.

I don't speak NBA but after some google-jitsu I am guessing you like Mika on this track ?

Mika or Shane ???

Well this would be a coin toss for me. I had the privlage to watch both of them at my poolhall, also (Johnny, Rodney, Thorston, Putman, Charlie) All These guys shoot lights out but mika was on fire that weekend. He was in a losing strick for a while but that weekend changed all that. Him and Shane meet up in the finals (10 ball) Mika shot like the old mika running out from all over. Needless to say he beat Shane. So with that said i think i would have to pull for mika at this time. That was the most exciting week i ever had,to watch all these pros play in my place.

My heart says Shane but my pea brain says Mika. For 3 primary reasons:

1) home court
2) easier travel schedule prior to
3) the game off the table. If either can get under the other's skin, I think it could be Mika. He can be ... shall I say ... a bit pissy at times and that can throw an opponent. I give Mika the checkmark in the "unintentional shark" category. He's also more likely to be a poor sport and sabotage his game, but on this brightly lit stage, I think he'll be in lock down mode. He's a wiser, more mature player now. JMO.

What an awesome lead in to the Open!

It's a great match-up that I am buying and will watch in its entirety.

If I had to pick a player I would pick Mika, but obviously it could go either way.

I hope it's a close and exciting match, and that at hill-hill they flip and start over.

I'm taking Shane for sure but only because he is one of my favorite players and I wouldn't be against him.

I will def. be purchasing this. Is there a way to connect a laptop to a lcd t.v.? I'm sure there is and I'm sure it's easy but I've never done it before. I would like to watch this on my tv especially since it's gonna take awhile.

Yeah just depends on what type of inputs you have on your tv. I use an HDMI cable. HDMI is the best. Here are pics of the tv and the port on your laptop:

Nice...thanks for the info. That is easy and I have the inputs and an HDMI cable that I believe I can use.

I think the key to this match will be who has the most control over their break shot and it will be determined by who gets a shot at the 1 ball.

I believe the Magic Rack and home room advantage for Mika will help level the field. With the Magic Rack, a controlled 10 ball break is possible. The key is to make a ball and get a shot on the one ball. With the Magic Rack, I think we are going to be seeing that 2nd row ball running into the side a lot for both players.

I expect this to be a pretty even match. I have always won betting on Shane but it's hard to get a bet down on him in this match - not too many willing to bet against him. Wouldn't it be amazing if this match went hill-hill?

Match

Justin - You analyzed both players real well. Oscar and Jay made some good points. KoolCat brought up those 'little' details that could determine the match. I don't care if this is a blowout, it will still be a great match. I assume that it is 'Winner breaks'? Do they flip or lag for opening break?

But, I think this one will be fought 'tooth and nail' to the bitter end. Has Mika been known to gamble before? for big money? (1,000 or greater)?

I, also, think many of you are being overly sentimental towards Shane because he is USA's favorite son right now. Jay is right, you do not get over jet lag the next day, it takes a couple of days, and by that time, Mika could have a very strong lead on Shane. Stop and think about those times when your head was not clear, but rather clouded up, and your thinking was a little erratic, did you shoot well then?

Both are fairly young, so fatigue should not play a big factor, but Mika does exercise regularly, and trains physically to play. I do not know if
Shane does.

You can not make yourself 'be hungry', it is either there or it isn't. You can hype yourself up, but it is like a sugar high, and doesn't last.

I think if Mika's break is working, he will win, otherwise Shane will, but the loser will have 90 some games won when it ends.

This is a decent pocket size - cut like a Diamond - not too tight and not a bucket. Should be fine for Shane and Mika knows the table.
