I'll also say - I mentioned it to another player about what this guy propositioned me to do, and he too said, "Oh, you should do it. There is no one who deserves it more."

Again...disappointing. It is about what someone deserves, it is about living with yourself. Some just won't ever get it.

Well I guess Im the only innocent man in Shawshank.....I have never dumped a backer and NEVER will! There is no excuse for it and anyone that does it is a piece of shit! IMO.

I was going to stay out of this even though I don't agree with dumping your backer under any circumstances. If you don't like the backer, don't get in bed...anything else just compromises your own integrity.

I would however like to point out that just because you admit to being dishonest, doesn't make you honest by default. The whole statement "I'm just a brutally honest guy,that's all ..If my honesty makes me a bad guy,sue me" is a complete oxymoron in this context.

Don't use self serving logic to justify actions that you know are wrong...it cheapens the game and it cheapens yourself.

Uhhhhh......failing to behave immorally does not automatically mean that JoeyA is claiming "holier than thou" status. I did NOT see such a claim in his post; and he was only responding to your question. Criticizing and denigrating JoeyA seems uncalled for.

I have never done any business; gambling fairly regularly for 2 or 3 years now. I would be happy to take a lie detector test at your expense. Count me as another who is skeptical of your claims - in this neck of the woods you have to be quite a player to get a "backer", you have always implied that you are NOT such a player.

P.S. - despite your claims of "brutal honesty"; a person who dumps is not to be believed in any other area. Sorry.

I've been a actin junkie, blew through a large amount of money gambling. But it was always my money. When I was out I worked a little harder until I had enough to blow again.

I realize a lot of pool players are lazy, won't work for a dollar, and have few ethics. Which is why someone dumping doesn't surprise me, or for that matter bug me one bit. It is the reason though I play on my own dime. Well that and I suck at pool.

I have never dumped, but I have been staked only a few times. But I haven't dumped when others are in with me. That, Tony, is the definition of honest. If you are a brutally honest guy like you say, please list the names of the last 5 people you dumped & on what occassion & for how much. But as jwilliams stated, telling that you dumped in a vague way as you have does not mean you are honest.

Unfortunately, you will never be viewed as honest. Since you began the challenge of comparing me to you----in the past month, I have been out of town & have someone give me $3300 to bring back home to another person as repayment of a debt. I also was watching a set for about $20K and when a questionable hit came up. Both players wanted an honest person to watch the hit & I was chosen. Walt, do you ever think that you would be viewed by people in this way---since you are brutally honest in an ignorant way?

man aint that the truth lol. In business the main times i can think of that i got screwed over, it was someone telling me how honest they were first, now to me its a major warning signal. In the past ive owned alot of rental property, ive cut way back but you know who was always the very worst renters? That person who was telling me how religious they were and how they goto church every sunday.....those people always ended up being the partiers, drug dealers, etc etc etc. It got to the point that i immediately trashed the application just as soon as they left. If youre honest, people will figure it out on their own, no explanation needed.
