Who is the top player in your state?

Brian Groce is the player that none of the others want to match up with ...if i'm wrong , and one of them do , i will be on a plane to come home and watch....
I think that josh is the guy who is on my old team ? i never met him ...

I totally agree, hippiepool. I like Brian personally and love his action. Super tough for the cash.

HP,
Say what you want about the IPT, but we saw a ton of players come out of the woodwork for a chance at the cash. If it had flourished, we would have really known how good a lot of these relatively unknown players are.

In North Carolina, Allison Fisher and Kelly Fisher would be the top female players. For the men, it's tough to say...Tony Watson, Earl, Sparkey, BJ...we've got quite a few!
Steve
I *think* Tony has left NC for SC, and Earl has moved to FL. Sparky and BJ are definitely top tier in NC, and I'd have to add Sam Monday, Robert Ray, and Mike Fuller to that list.

thanx Willie.......I remember that thread , I would only be interested in viewing a money match though .........maybe see you sometime in Indy , later ...h.p.

HP,
There was a couple of grand on the line in that get-together.

The usual matches when the roadies come through are for $500 per game or $2,000 to $10,000 for ahead sets. Usually not enough notice for you to make travel plans though.:) :)

Florida is a tough one since so many players move here.

If Corey is living on the west coast now, I would say him. Gabe is living in the Jacksonville area last I heard and he has to be near the top. Saez is now living in Miami and he has to be considered, although he is not as well rounded in all games like the other two.

Of the Florida natives, players who have lived virtually their entire playing careers here, I would give my vote to David Grossman. David plays really strong 1p as well as 9/10ball. Broxson's game has really advanced alot in the last few years as well.

For the New Yorker that gave Jennifer Barretta the nod, I would suggest you ask her just how much weight she would want from Ginky to matchup. I'm not even sure Ginky is the best up there. Maybe some other NYCers can chime in.

Lest we forget, Mr. Schmidt.

Brian, 10-11 years ago in Indy, actually we played 3 different times in tournaments. At that time he was considered the 2nd best in Indy behind George. I beat him the finals at a tournament at the Billiards Cafe (8 foot tables), up by the northeast mall. That was when I was given my current Pool name of Snapshot. I also asked him to gamble, but he declined.
I found gambling scarce in Indy, and I did not want to go up north by myself to gamble. The biggest score I made there other than tournaments was $300, and when I offered to double up to $200 a set (on a 9 footer), the guy quit.

Snap,
For what it's worth, Skeet Bushor (whom I believe gave you your nickname) was on my VNEA team this year - we just won the Master's League City Championship this past Saturday. My very first season, the very first time I've ever played on a bar table (it's a bit easier than playing on the 9-footers:) ).

Congrats

Wille ... I played on the Free Spirit team when I was there, and we won the City Championship that year ('96-97), and I still got the jacket to prove it .... LOL Indeed, Skeet was the one that named me. The only problems I ever had on a 9 footer (grew up on them) was my eyesight and having to use a crutch all the time since I am a little low to the ground. But, since I got these new soft contacts in December which brought me to 20/25 vision, I may give the 9 footers a try again. Congrats again.

...you must be thinking of someone else...

NJ is a tuff state, we have alot of good players but this is how i would break it down
Santos Sambajon
danny basavich
jose garcia
allen hopkins
im pretty sure santos is still living here, and if he is i would say he is the overall best. straight pool though would have to go to jose.

I know most everyone in Indiana, been playing in tournaments against everyone who can make 3 balls ina row and gambled with most of the best players. There are about 10 really top rated players who stick out in my mind who are all around good players. Tournament players and gambling are 2 different animals. If we took a variety of games, took my top picks and threw them in a matchup. There are 4 players I would pick as the top.
George Breedlove
Brian Groce
Brian Gregg
Steve Oaks

Now, if I had to pick one player to put all my cash on in a matchup with a road player, playing several different games{ie, 8-ball, 9-ball,10-ball, one pocket, banks, and straight pool. I have to pick George if he's been playing at all. But I've always liked Brian Groce for the cash. Not to take anything away from the other 2. I have total respect for all of them and love to get to just hit balls with them.

So who's your pick Hippie? Are you maybe talking about Josh?

Sam very well put. You play pretty darn good too.

I'd be curious to see the next 4 on th IN list. Those four kind of speak for themselves. The next 4 might not be so easy to decide on. Any thoughts Sam?

Off the top of my I head I would say:

Denver Barger
Jeff Beckley
Josh (can't think of the last name)

They all play pretty sporty, in tournaments and for the dough.

I think the best in MD is "MD" Mike Davis.

I second that...

Any guesses for PA?? I know Jim Rempe used to be in Scranton (maybe still is), and the Fusco's in Philly... but I'll go out on a limb (and withstand the flaming) and say the best 9-ball player recently is Brett Stottlemeyer. Won the state championships last year and is beating a lot of top pros. Took Archer to the hill in an 11-game set in Valley Forge.

Denver Barger has to be in the next 4. Could a satalite TV installer be in there too?

Alex, I just spoke with him(Tony Chohan) the other day he is now living in Detroit He found a G/F there and says it going to be easier to get to tournaments from there....who knows. Just thought i would let you know my pick is Billy Palmer he's on a roll right now
