Who makes the best Billiard Glove

finger slides

What glove do you use and why.

I tried a glove and didn't like it, aside from sweaty my fingers didn't feel secure on the table. Forum member Cue-Z makes Finger Slides that serve the same purpose as a glove and leave the last joint of your fingers bare. They also far outlast a glove.

First choice for me is naked fingers, second Finger Slides, gloves a distant third. Forget who made them, I tried a couple brands.

Here is a link to the lady that makes finger slides if anyone is interested. Good person to work with and she will custom make what you need if a stock size or length doesn't suit you.

I second the motion for preferring naked fingers 1st, then Finger Slides 2nd. I like to feel the table under my bridge hand and feel the stroke. But when it gets humid or my fingers get a little sweaty, finger slides are better than powder and provide a nice consistent feel for your stroke. They are custom made, so they fit perfectly. Nice product!

What glove do you use and why.

Of course you're gonna get all the posters on here that are gonna tell you why they don't like a glove and why you shouldn't wear one. Some in the past have gone as far as calling people names for wanting to wear one.

Funny though how this trend of glove wearing seems to be making a slow ascent throughout the professional ranks. Even everyones hero Shane Van Boening has been wearing one for some time now. I saw an awful LOT of players wearing one on the SBE live stream this weekend.

My personal favorite is the PoolDawg brand. It is however a one-size-fits-all type of glove. My hand is on the large side and this glove fits skin-tight, the way I prefer it to fit. The spandex on this glove is a bit thicker on this glove as compared to other brands I have tried, but feels just right when stretched out tight. My second choice is the Nick Varner brand. Similar to the PoolDawg glove but the spandex is just a tad thinner.

FTR, I also have a set of the fingerslides and IMO they're okay, just not as good as a glove (they are THICK and a bit cumbersome to put on).

I will play gloveless IF my hands won't sweat, which is rare. I don't need people coming on here that obviously don't know/understand the extent of the sweaty hands problem telling me to wash my hands often or other remedies to the problem. I already have the remedy, and it is a GLOVE.

Hope this helps you make a choice.

I've never tried finger slides, but as far as gloves I've tried a few. I also liked pooldawg the best. I just ordered a new one kuz my old one tore and also ordered a predator just to see how I like it. I'll let u know once I get it. ;)

I keep a Cuetec glove in my case as a backup plan (in the event I need one due to conditions or for any reason). I like the velcro on the wrist, it makes the glove a little less of a puzzle to put on if it gets twisted around. When I initially got it, the points on the velcro squares that were sewn onto the wrist poked and scratched me; after trimming them and getting rid of that problem I like it a lot.

Finger Slides

I give another vote to Cue-Z's Finger Slides! They last a long time, are custom made for a great fit, eliminate the use of powder, and my strongest reason for wearing them is they are thick enough so you don't feel any dings or debris that the shaft may accumulate during play. I find anything that is not smooth while stroking to be terribly distracting, Finger Slides are the answer for me...

I also concur with the finger slides. I have used other gloves and they just seem to wear out too quickly. Not the case with the finger slides.....

Nancy Cote's / Cue-Z's FingerSlides

Fingerslides are great. They save my game every now and then when it's real hot inside the pool room.

I thirty-third this vote. Dumb me, I didn't bring 'em with me this time to SBE, and that new facility -- with its inconsistent hot/cold spots throughout, and the hot spots under the lights in the main arena (Open 10-ball) -- boy, I really could've used 'em!

I use the sir joseph gloves..but cut out the tips as they tend to tear at the finger tips over time regardless.

I'd like to try the predator gloves as they look a little bit more durable but are twice the cost of a sir joseph's gloves.

As for the finger slides..they look like the thong bikini of pool gloves. Never been able to use them in person as i haven't seen anyone use them.

gotta admit I'm surprised

I thought I might see one or two endorsements of the Finger Slides, surprised to see probably the majority endorsing them.

My solution for having them with me all the time is that I crammed them into a small pill bottle and keep that in my case. I can always find them thataway! Thought they might be easy to lose but I haven't had a problem.

I always wear a glove - wearing one simply removes any issues with shaft sliding smoothly through bridge.

I've tried the fingerslides, but they are too bulky with the multiple pieces and seams for me.

I used to like the Cuetec best by far - well made, nice velcro wrist wrap, and, although one-size-fits-all, it was the only one big enough for my XL hand. But from the last couple times I bought a few, the Cuetec gloves are smaller now, the same size as the other brands I had tried.

I'll try one that comes in sizes after I've gone through my current stock.

If a glove has a full second finger, I cut it half off so I can feel the table and it doesn't ever slip.

I am a lefty and usually discriminated against because of this, i.e., there are no name brand lefty gloves out there. I would have gone for the sexy yellow Predator or bright red Poison gloves but they only come in configurations for right-handed players. Probably OK since I don't like to stand out in the crowd by wearing brightly colored gloves anyway.

I ended up with black Finger Slides. They're OK for most shots but not so effective for contortionist shots like frozen cueball or open bridge ones because part of the shaft slides on bare skin. While I followed their website measuring instrucions, my right hand is not of normal dimensions so the separate middle finger is too loose while the rest of of it is a snug filt. Sometimes the middle finger portion falls off without my knowing it.

My dream glove: one designed for lefties and invisible, i.e., transparent clear or same color as one's skin (my skin color is same as "Bata" Reyes') so that it doesn't shout to the whole world that I must be a pro because I wear gloves. The reality is I'm just a rank beginner and wearing gloves makes me feel that I'm being ostentatious - a show-off and bragging about my non-existent skills. That's why I went for the Finger Slides. I would still recommend them if they can fix the finger sizing issue so it is customized for folks with disproportionally-sized hands like me, and cover slightly more skin so you don't rub on it when executing out-of-position shots.

I've been wearing gloves since they hit the market like 20 years ago.

Sir josephs... Quality has gone down. They don't last very long because half the time the threads are coming out of the wrist area before you even get them out of the bag and holes seem to wear quickly.

Finger slides.. There okay but in the summer they don't seem to work well for me.

For the money right now I would say the best is predator or poison gloves. They are very well made and only 10 bucks. I wear the predator and a buddy wears the poison fingerless and you can see no wear in them after almost 6 months of wear.
