if you were going to order a plane jane built only for playability who would you go with?

feel free to post some pics if you'd like to emphasize your point.

Top 5

My top 5, in terms of what you get for your money:

1. Rick Howard
2. Keith Josey
3. Bryan Mordt
4. Steve Klein
5. Pete Ohman (Omen Cues)

You pick any of these guys, you are going to get a great cue at a fair price. And their quality and fit/finish are tops in the market.

Pete hands down.....

Well, I just got a pair of pj's and they listed in the cue gallery, and I had several duzens of pj's. I think that on top of the list I would Pete Omen and Eric Crisp.
Everybody that knows me, has seen a ton of pj's on my hands and by far Eric Crisp and now Pete Omen are my all time favorites. The new pair of Omens I just received are just insane. The jb cue is probably one of the best custom jb cues I ever had.
I also had a pair of cocobolo Darrin Hills that I was extremelly please with and I regret selling those. Darrin has some incredible wood.
Eric Crisp is just the cherry on top of the cake. It can't get better than that when it comes to playability, quality and crazy wood!

The best playing plain jane cues I ever hit balls with were made by Tad. If any of these guys make a cue that's as good, then they've done something. The plain Tads still bring a very high price used, $1,500 is average. If you get your hands on one you'll understand why. Hank Corsair also made a similar great hitting plain jane.

I might be biased, since thats all I play with. Alpha cue's play as good as any I have ever owned. As Jay said though, Tad. I had a friend who asked me to hit a few balls with a Tad he got in a trade. This was in the early 90's I believe, and it was far from a plain Jane. It had the most balanced feel of any cue I had ever hit a ball with.

Mke Stacey also builds a great hitting cue

You got it. TAD makes the best hitting plain jane. IMO.

Jeff Olney gets my vote hands down.
Best bang for the buck IMO. His prices are very reasonable, his cues play great, his customer service is outstanding & his fit & finish is unreal.
