Who makes the best shaft for pool?

I think the question has no good answer. No one here has played for any length of time with even 10% of the available shafts, so no one here can give you a definitive answer. Then there is the problem that shafts from the same cue maker play differently. Finally, each player here probably wants something slightly different from a shaft.
I think you would be better off asking for horror stories of lousy/broken/tingy/warped shafts and cross those off your list. But not much better off.

I assume you are not a good player. Why not just worry about how to improve your basics and get really good at making banks and getting position and banking etc.
Then worry about refining the material end.

The table is for practice and 'getting good'. AZ is for asking questions.
Just interested in getting people's feedback. I see too many threads on the best hitting cue, when I think the focus should be more on the best shafts (not cues).

Listen to the sages. There is no perfect cue but if a new anything gets you excited about playing and practicing more, then guess what.......youll get better. I don't know if you play leagues or not but if so, check out what the best players are using. You will be surprised. LD shafts and layered tips give a different feel but they aren't the silver bullet. Felt time cures more problems than equipment.

Actually, there is a best shaft/tip combination. It's a Predator and an UltraSkin.
Try it. You'll like it.

The shafts I have been most happy with are Diveney and JMW.
As many others have mentioned, there is no right answer to your question. Many different players are looking for different feels, characteristics etc. in a shaft. What is perfect to me, you might hate. YMMV

The Miracle cue with the Fourskin tip might be the best answer, but I will try to give you some feedback because I think its a good question. I have played pool for over 50 years with a lot of different cues. The poster that said " anything that gets you to play more " is good for your game is true, be it a new cue or a video.
There is no substitute for quality. I have 3, 1st gen Predator shafts (not for sale ). One plays better than the others (my opinion). I recently had tips installed on 2 of them, Ultraskins. I was playing with Kamui's but it was time for a tip change, and I read lots of positive feedback on AZ about the Ultraskins, so far I like them (mediums). I play with a nickel radius, you might like a dime. My point is everything you do is going to affect how your cue plays.
Some people will say that its the Indian not the arrow. I think the cue does make a difference. How much difference depends on what level you play at. Its really a process of trial and error to find out what you like the best. My advice is to invest in quality. I am currently playing with a Murrell. I have 4 different shafts for it, and they all play different, a lot different to me, almost to the point where it seems like when I change shafts its a different cue.
Different ferules will make a difference in how a cue plays. There are capped and uncapped ferules, and different kinds of ferule material used to make them. Some players like ivory, I like juma.
If you are looking for an easy way to figure out what is the best for your game, I don't think there is one. Its been a long process of trial and error for me. Good luck in your search.

I agree. The technical details/specifications of a shaft that suits your playing style is the best.
What i did before: I bring a blank 1x30 maple to the cuemaker, a juma ferrule and a pressed emerald tip. I ask him to make me a shaft based on my specifications. 13mm, normal taper (about 14mm at 15 inches from tip), 15mm ferrule length. So now I play with the best cue. I may try getting a branded laminated "partial shaft" and do the same, see if it's better.
I like the Lambros laminated shafts. They are all low deflection but without the dead hit found in other shafts.
