Who Should Get A "Pro Player" Banner?

Which posters should be identified with the black, "Pro Player" banner under their avatar? I can think of several who qualify, but where should the cut off point be?

What is a pro and how good do they have to be to be considered worthy of the black label? Tourney wins, gambling triumphs, or just their over all contribution to the sport, like a HOF vote should probably be considered.

What about SJD for starters? Like him or not, the man does have some credentials.

Best,
Mike

Some pros who often post are:

Dynamite (Darren Appleton)
Mainplayer (Mike Dechaine)
Real Bartram (Chris Bartram)
Ky Boy (John Brumback)
CJ Wiley
Donny Mills
Danny Harriman.

John Brumback is John Brumback, not KY Boy. KY Boy gets a couple balls playing anything.

There's Ray Martin, Steve Lipsky, Justin B., too. What about the Kids and Gene A.? Then you get into Stan Shuffett, Landon Shuffett, Stevie, Marty and Bobby Cotton.

Mike

Not to hijack the thread but I always thought there should be a "Custom Cue Maker" banner as well.

And we can't forget about "mr 400" John Schmidt, although he hasn't been on in quite some time now !!

If you are in the Hall of Fame, and we have at least three on here that are, you should have that under your name. To have SJD and John Brumback not even listed as pros is nothing but a disservice to them.

edit: I see that John B. does now have pro player under his name. I don't believe he did yesterday, but could be mistaken.

Here's what was it takes to be a "Pro Player" on azbilliards.

Good question Mike, here's what was it takes to reach "Pro Player" status on azbilliards. They have tests that must be passed equivalent to an Iron Man Competition. It takes days to recuperate from the brutality they put you through.

It takes drive to be a Pro Player on azbilliards.
You have to be driven to improve every day. You can't be satisfied with your last performance on the pool table, or azbilliards.

It takes discipline to be a Pro Player (on azbilliards)..
You have to be disciplined. You have to follow a strict exercise and posting schedule.

It takes competitiveness to be a Pro Player.
You have to be competitive and want to beat your knockers.

It takes self-confidence to be a Pro Player.
You have to be confident in yourself and ignore the insecurity of "critics".

It takes aggressiveness to be a Pro Player.
You have to make moves on your own, not just respond to what other posters do.

It takes focus to be a Pro Player.
You have to be able to focus on the thread at hand and tune out any other distractions.

It takes commitment to be a Pro Player.
You have to be committed to pool and posting. You have to give up other hobbies and pool forums and commit yourself to azbilliards several hours a day.

It takes good time management to be a Pro Player.
You have to be able to manage your time well. You post, practice and/or play pool tournaments each day, on top of school, work, and spending time with friends and family.

It takes some amount of raw talent to be a Pro Player.
You have to be naturally talented at pocket billiards. This is something that certain players are just born with, and others develop through TOI and TIP training.

It takes determination to be a Pro Player.
You have to be determined. You can't give up, no matter how hard it seems. When you lose a match or miss an easy shot, you have to get right back up and try again.

It takes a high tolerance for pain to be a Pro Player.
You have to be able to put up with a lot of pain, from pushing your TOI or TOO to its limits.

It takes adaptability to be a Pro Player.
You have to be able to adapt to different forum situations and new techniques quickly.

It takes emotional maturity to be a Pro Player.
You have to be in control of your emotions. You can't let yourself get angry at the nits, knockers and haters. You must realize that what they say about a Pro Player is what they really think of themselves. It's called projection, and a Pro Player must ignore it.

Lee Brett should have a pro player banner

SJD should get a Pro Banner.

PS. What do Ray Martin and John Schmidt post under ?

I know he has a rep as a top player 30 to 40 years ago...did he ever play in any tournaments? Win any? He's too busy telling us how self deprecating he is to fill us in on his tournament wins.

I'm curious about that too........

Ray Martin is Ghostball. Then, there are the lady pros, Fran Crimi, Sarah Rousey, and Melissa Morris to name just a few.

John Schmidt goes under the screen name of "john Schmidt"

Also Max Eberle deserves the Pro Player badge as well. His SN is Maxeberle
