Who should win their spots?

With 8 more spots available for the IPT tour which players do you think should win their spots onto the 2006 season such that it would make the IPT as true a international field of the best pool players in the world as possible? This is a chance for those few rare people that we all were in shock did not get onto the tour to now qualify and be there. My list of people I think the IPT really needs to qualify would go something like this...

Alex Pagulayan (World 9-ball/US Open champ)

Chin Chia Wu (Current World 9-ball AND 8-ball champ)

Fong Pang Chao (One of the most dangerous money players out there and always a threat to win anything he plays in)

Chin Shun Yang (another Taiwan player, again one of the most dangerous pool players in the world)

Kou (2nd and 3rd in the last 2 world 9-ball)

Scott Frost (One of the most elite one pocket players in the USA and a colorful personality made for this type of tour)

Steve Davis (along with Ronnie these guys bring alot of European interest into the IPT)

Wildcard (cannot think of anyone else atm that really stands out as a "needs to be there" kind of person)

IMO the first 5 players missing off of a true international pro pool tour is a terrible thing. We need those elite players from Taiwan to do battle in these events along with the Filipino players who dominated the last event. I realize the problems the Taiwan players have of being ostrasized from their own countries pool organization, but the money and the seemingly great production value and treatment of the players should outweigh the loss of the Asian pool scene. If the IPT truely succeeds it wont be long before it is doing truly international events in Asia and Europe and becomes a worldwide tour, at which time I dont think a country will be able to keep holding a grudge against the tour or the players who went to it.

From the american side of things, I would like to see...

Troy Frank
Jamie Baraks
Brandon Ashcraft
Stevie Moore

There's more but those are the one's that come to mind right away.

Worthy of mention for inclusion, since they came to Orlando to see the IPT in all its glory, though were not one of the 150 members, are:

RONNIE WISEMAN, one of Detroit's finest, not to mention he just won the Reno Open a few weeks ago.

REED PIERCE, a U.S. Open Champion, veteran road player, and a player Mississippi is proud to call one of their own.

TONY CROSBY, a gentleman player, followed the British tournament trail and now lives in America, fondly known as The Sniper. To see his bio, check out: http://www.tonycrosby.com

JULIE KELLY, one of the most recognized WPBA pro players, had a strong year in 2004 and 2005. She gave up her family business of sheep=herding in Ireland to come to America and go pro. Lots of personality, this gal.

C.J. WILEY, a player who brings a smile on everybody's face, just by mentioning his name, a Texas legend.

Sparky Ferrell also made the trek from North Carolina to check out the IPT festivities in Florida.

There's a couple names that come to my mind. The fact that they thought enough of the IPT to make the trek to Orlando, though they weren't members, impressed me. JMHO, FWIW.:)

yes, all mentioned should be there, along with danny barouty of new york, who will be qualifying, he is the best straight pool player in the united states.

My .02 cents

I think the taiwanese will be held back by their government
to play in the IPT somewhat, although it would be great to
have them play.

Like to see some of these hot short stops step up to plate
like was mentioned in earlier posts. Not sure, if some of the
old timers could handle the level of play today, and as I
understand it, at least a 5 minute shot clock would have
to be in effect for Reed Pierce, or he would drive everyone
crazy.

Of those not yet mentioned in this thread, I would like to see Teddy Garrahan qualify.

SJM I am with you. I would love to see Teddy play. IMO he is one of the most underrated players in the country. I also would really like to see Danny Harriman playing as well.

Well, if y'all are gonna throw in some fine Northeastern players, then I'd throw out some of these names:

STEVE TAVERNIER, plays out of Snooker's in Providence, RI, won the $25,000-added Joss event at Turning Stone earlier this year, and most definitely can keep up with the best of them.

MIKE ZUGLAN, New York State Champion, United States Straight Pool Champion, Tour Director for the longest-running regional tour in the country, the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, owner of pool room in Upstate New York, a longstanding veteran of the sport, and make no mistake about it, the man's got game.

JOE TUCKER, veteran player, author of several pool books, consultant to the players, and is a well-respected member of the sport.

JOSE GARCIA, one of the best instructors in the country, owns a pool room in New Jersey, a formidable opponent in any venue, and has one of the SWEETEST strokes in the business.

Two more players not yet mentioned seem to merit some attention:

A name that is very conspicuous in its absence from the IPT roster is Sandor Tot, who was ranked #1 on the Eurotour during 2005.

Vilmos Foldes, who came 9th at the 2005 WPC, and who beat Johnny Archer at the World Summit, is another sharpshooter whose name would be a nice addition to the IPT roster.

What's wrong with you guys? I'd rather see Jeanette Lee compete. Here's my vote for KT to extend an invitation to her.

Contrary to popular belief, there really is pool being played on the West Coast. Tang Hoa, Dave Hemmah, and Morro Paez, to name a few, would all make excellent additions.

If Reed gets qualified, once he gets in stroke and gets used to things, he plays at pretty quick pace. Watch some videos of him when he was playing alot, he played with a slightly quicker pace than many players. If you saw him playing slow recently, IMO it's because he does not play as much as he did before, so he is not ready to shoot the shot as quickly. If you want to talk about slow, look at Basavich, Jones, Archer, etc.

Gotta love Sandor Tot, show here posting with Keith. Sandor has a long portfolio on the international tournament trail, and he's a joy to be around as well. Very deserving, IMHO.

Vilmos Foldes had a very good showing as well at the 2005 U.S. Open. If memory serves me right, he's quite young, 19 I believe. Is he from Poland?

Both Vilmos Foldes and Sandor Tot are from Hungary.

I like to see the following in IPT:
1) Reed Pierce
2)Ronnie wiseman
3)Alex pegulayan
4)``Morro``
5) Dave Hemma
6) Tang ho
7)Scott Frost
8)Danny Hariman
9)Jeanette Lee Breedlove
10) CJ.Willey.

Those players should not have been ommitted from the list,to start with.In that respect I was disapointed with the judgement of the Wise & Rich Man

Let's not overlook a player who was 2nd in the 2004 WPC and who won the gold medal in pool at the 2005 World Games. That would be Pei Wei Chang.

Wow, this thread is really something. Easy to overlook just how many outstanding players are absent from the IPT roster.
