Who was the best pool player you ever played in your pool career?

Haven't really gotten to play as much as I'd like over the years, but here is a list:

Joyner, Richie Richeson, John Morra, Mike Davis, CJ Wiley, and a few more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Lost to every darn one... :-)

Short Bus Russ

Played Mike Dechaine in the 3rd round of the Open this year...first time playing a high-tier pro. Needless to say, I dogged my brains out and got my ass WAXED.

Sweet experience, though.

one pocket: Marshall "Tuscaloosa Squirrel" Carpenter
I had been playing some with Cliff Joyner learning all I could and went to Bama Billiards for a 9-ball tourny. Squirrel walked in and saw me hitting some balls asked if I wanted to play some for $50 I thought how could I lose well $200 later I quit. Great guy and even showed me a lot. I did play Rob Saez in the 9-ball tourny and lost 7-5 he was one of the best I played in 9-ball.

Gotta be willie Munson

Although he is far past his prime you can still go find willie daily at Romines in Milwaukee playing $2 9-ball games with anybody willing and for a 70 plus year old man still plays jam up. Also George Pawalski

I was fortunate enough to play Steve Mizerak. Even though he made an example of me I was honored he took the time to play

Eddie Taylor,Jersey Red,Ronnie Allen,St Louie Louie Roberts,Mike Massey,and
Tracy Joe Salazar the cue salesman ,and Craig Stevens were the best I ever played

they all gave me the nuts and outran it

I never had much success playing guys like that, I did beat Billy Incardona with the nuts, but he came back the next time

fella named Vernon Elliot made a bunch of impossible bank shots that discouraged me

I beat UJ Puckett, only to discover he was lemoning off to me to catch a bigger fish

The best of them all might have been Eddie Kelly ,but we played golf and I saved my money that I would have lost

come to think of it Bushwhacker out ran the nuts in Rustys, but he was a step behind these monsters

Also Shannon Dalton beat me 8 to 6,but he was 12 years old
Think I was in CJ's once when Cliff gave you the "Extra large double Brazilians".:grin-square:

I played with Efren a lot during my college days in Manila. And, also, the original "Boy Calamba". Ronnie Alcano is using that moniker nowadays. Dodong Andam and Efren at the time were just a hairbreadth apart on their skill level same as with Amang Parica.

Best

That be mister strickland and the fat man, minn-soto fats, long ago!! in expo in atlanta!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Chrissy @ Vegas.
although turning down Earl (when i didn't know who he was) might have been sweeter in retrospect?

14.1- hands down Danny Diliberto ( who runs 100 and out walking around and talking?????)

none of these were big money matches or anything but meant alot to me :)

Simeng Chen is the best pool player I have ever played. A close 2nd would be Justin Bergman.

I've played some other strong players before too such as Mike Davis Jr., Gene Albrecht, Tommy Tokoph, Nick Tafoya to name a few.

kid delicious

Danny Basavich... Didn't see his name here and thought his was worth a mention. I enjoyed watching him get open playing 9ball. His stroke was great, that skinny shaft through his chubby fingers; I'll never forget! We played a few times when we were kids, and a few more when older. He was an artist. Great rhythm, great timing, and tremendous poise. Thanks for the this thread, it brought back many memories.

I played Allison Fisher just yesterday. It was at a the toys for tots charity tournament here in Roanoke, and I donated $20 for the opportunity, but it counts. I rattled the seven and left her an easy two ball out. I shoulda asked for weight :p
