What player, promoter, stakehorse, or someone that has done a lot for pool over the years, would a large majority of the pro players trust to run a National Organization for them? It would be a paying job. Johnnyt

I hope I get to see Trudeau or Don Mackey in person someday. If I do,you'll read the story on here about how some "crazed fan" kicked them in the nuts :rolleyes:,for what they've done to us. Tommy D.

Silly thought...why not somebody with zero irons in the fire, dogs in the fight...whatever. Hire a fresh young MBA grad from M.I.T.

2nd thought, such a guy would probably laugh at the pay scale.

Is the person going to be the CEO of the organization? The travelling tournament director? The spokesperson? The promoter? Please define the job description. Different people may be the best person for each job.

Good choices. I really like MIKE ZUGLAN, but I have a sneaky suspicion that he wouldn't enjoy this kind of endeavor. He loves his Joss Northeast 9-Ball tour, the longest running regional tour in this country, and he continues to keep pool alive for players of all caliber.

It is difficult to keep a positive outlook on pool when you get your teeth kicked, as well as dealing with those who have selective memories, forgetting people who helped them when they were a nobody. Some industry folk are givers; some industry folk are users.

My choice would be GREG SULLIVAN. I trust him, I like him, and he follows through on his word. He's not a B.S. artist, and if Greg says he's going to do something, he does it. I definitely would be supportive of any endeavor Greg is involved in.

I also have to say ALLEN HOPKINS. He's never told an untruth to people close to me, and he has innovative ideas. He also is a player at heart and will do everything within his power to make pool excel. He lives and breathes pool. It's his passion.
 
I'd love to see Greg tackle that job. After talking with him for an hour or so a few weeks back I'd say he would have some great ideas and the ability to verbally express them so that others could see his viewpoint. Given what he has accomplised thus far in his life I'd think he must have some good skills in putting together a system that gets the job done. I believe in his integrity and that's what counts most.
 
IMO, you need more than one person, you would need 4. The 4 people are -

Mark Griffin
Greg Sullivan
Jay Helfert

and the most important link in the puzzle -

Jerry Forsyth.

If you were to ask the players, I am sure Jerry's name would come up more often than any other.

Also, if you get Mark and Greg, you would need their entire staff as well.
 
An old friend of mine has the view that they would need someone not a player. The players have shot themselves in the foot every time they've tried to do something like this. Personally, I like several of the people already mentioned, though I think that few of them would be willing to get involved on the scale you are talking about.
