Hello everyone!!
I'm curious as to who you're having build your next cue(s)? Tell us all about it!
Who's doing it?
Why did you pick "em?(cuemaker)
Your choice of woods, inlays(or not), materials, joint/pin type etc.??
Pictures and progress reports make for a more interesting read too

First up for me is Tony Zinzola...
This cue popped up as a cue that has been sitting around Tony's shop for a while. I believe I'm the third person to commit to this cue...it's paid for, so it's mine now  I'm a sucker for black on black, so when this one popped up...I had to have it. I talked it over with Tony as to which direction we wanted to head in, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with!!
Some pics to enjoy so far...

Tony is going to use his circle's-n-squares rings, ivory joint and buttcap, and all wrapped up in a black elephant wrap with fancy j/p's. This cue is so close to being done I can almost taste it LOL...

This next cue is going to be my showcase cue... I have yet to own what I consider a very fancy player, and have chosen Kenny Murrell to perform his magic for me on a 60" wrapless. I'm lucky enough to have one of Kenny's cues already, and it's a super player for sure. Seeing xpatcan1's fancy wrapless Murrell pretty much solidified my decision on which maker I'd go with this time.
Of course there's no pictures to share of yet...but I can assure you we've set the bar pretty high.
Supposedly the wood...Rosewood burl, is from the same chunk as the wood in Ernie's cathedral cue. Pretty gnarly figuring there...in a wrapless with points into ebony. Kenny is working on a couple of designs, and we'll be sure to share that here as well...
Ivory flat faced joint and butt cap with silver and ivory inlays...
When I asked Kenny if there's anything he's been wanting to do with that special piece of wood, I could here the gears ticking in his brain LOL... He's like "yeah"...let me get a couple of designs for you and we'll go from there!!
Real excited about this one

...and I know I'm not the only one out there excited and waiting...So make the pain a little easier for all of us and share what you got coming and pictures if at all possible!!
Thanks in advance!
Clint

Jon Spitz is finishing this Davis blank for me. John made two and told me to choose so I went with the dark one. It's going to be a simple wrap less Hoppe with deco rings at the joints. I can't wait.

this is all i have

I am having Long Islands very own MIKE MILLER/MIKE MORGANS CUES build me this show piece a.k.a tribute cue. It is going to feature a Buska top with a Palmer Butt, no wrap, instead it's going to have a bunch of those fine pieces of wood that normally goes into a cue.

The Butt is already on and next up are the inlays and a good turning down. I don't have the pics with the but on as i never expected to have to post or show anyone, but if you find the cue interesting then i will keep you up to-date as the come into the last few weeks.

no gust, no glory.

Next cue

I will have one built next year when my pension kicks in.

I will have Bob Owen of Shurtz Custom Cues build for me. He is local, and I have known Bob for 30+ years.

I really like Amboyna Burl, and would like it to be one of my main woods. Bob said no problem and he can fill it with Rock Maple for a good hit. He knows I like Southwestern styled cues, but didn't know what other woods would go with Amboyna Burl, and I don't want Ebony or BEM. He said he has other woods, and mentioned Desert Ironwood as a possibility. I have to go by his shop and look at some different woods.

I am not quite sure about inlays yet, but am thinking ivory, turquoise, and silver. I just asked him if he could inlay 'Kokopelli' in the butt sleeve, and he seemed to think he could. I am still doing research right now, and I look at a lot of cues. Oh, I also think I want 3 or 4 Veneers.
I am pretty sure Bob will try to get me to go with a phenolic joint, but I am pretty sold on SS joints because I like the feedback from them.

I still haven't decided if I am going with a wrap or not because I have been shooting with a wrapless for the last 9-10 years. If I do though, it will probably be Elephant Ear that matches my cue colors, or if I decide to go wrapless then I want a segmented handle with killer rings.

This is still about 8 months down the road before I can start the building.
Last time Bob's lead time was 4-6 months, and now is 6-8 months.

Next

Jeremy Dunn of Seven hills is building me my first custom cue. Looking to get it at the end of this month. I will post pictures then.

I've been waiting on one from Mark Bear for a really long time. If I had some photos I'd post them...six point ebony into brazilian rosewood with a kangaroo wrap. Should be nice...someday...:p Also, having a John Davis ebony into straight-grain maple titlist tribute made by Judd Fuller!!

I have four in progress:
Mike Webb, cocobolo PJ
Ryan Theewen, cocobolo PJ
Brent Hartman, ebony on ebony butterfly cue
Lee Peppers, 4 pt/vn EIR into BEM

All four are a pleasure to work with, highly suggest you check out their work.

Next up on my want list:
Blackcreek fullsplice
Murray Tucker
Dave Barrenbrugge butterfly cue
Southwest

I have a bunch of irons in the fire, so to speak..

Eric Crisp/Sugartree- Bocote one piece cue, my first build but I have owned over a dozen

Joey Bautista - BEM Harvey Martin Tribute, my second build with him

Jeff Olney - Black and White Ebony PJ with a BEM handle, my second build with him

Kenny Koo - Ultra rare Honduran Rosewood Burl PJ, my first build with him

Kenny Murrell - Ebony on Ebony, 4 point 4 veneer Hoppe cue, my first build with him

Pete Tascarella - Ebony into BEM, 4 point 4 veneer cue with tons of ivory, my first build with him. This is a big cue...

Brent Hartman/BHQ - Bocote butterfly cue, my first build with him

Another Jeff Olney - 4 point 4 veneer Bushka tribute with MOP notched diamonds and dots, this will by by third build

South West - I am on the list but who knows what decade that will be

I am trying to convince Murray Tucker to build me another cue. That will be another big cue if he accepts my order.

Great thread Clint.

Get out there and support a cuemaker!

I have an ebony/ivory set on order from Jim Pierce.

Player - 2 shafts
Breaker - 1 shaft
Jumper - 1 shaft with phenolic tip.

I've had a cue made for me ONCE before...in 1995 I ordered a SW and got it in 2002. This will be only the 2nd custom I've ever had made for me.

Chris Nitti is building my next one...I have been waiting for my Zinzola 18 months...ordered my Nitti yesterday...wonder which I will get first

Mike Wheeler, full-blown custom with inlays, ivory joint....All my design.

Just not sure when it will happen.

My second cue from the Tascarella's will be delivered this week. Pete confirmed it went in the mail today. Talk about excited. :)

My next custom cue is being built by Kent Davis/KD Custom Cues, out of San Dimas CA. I was in his shop the middle of last week, and he had most of the butt built. Now he'll put in the inlays (ivory and MOP), ivory joint, and the g-10 pin. I'll post pics when I see the cue finished. This is my first custom cue since 1999, when my Samsaras were built for me.

Well i think i have similar taste with the OP heh...
Tony Zinzola: Fancy 6 pointer
Kenny Murrell: Fancy 24 points cut
Barrenbruge: 2 cues..can't wait.
Guerra: done in a couple of weeks
Lee Peppers: Davis Conversion

I have just one cue in the works and that is coming from Joey Bautista. It is Curly Purpleheart with rings at ABCDE and will have a Burgundy Kangaroo wrap. No inlays just BEAUTIFUL wood and if it hits like the Bubinga he built for me (and I am sure it will because every cue I hit with when I visit him hits great!) I will be one happy camper.

Now if I could just get him to get up off a piece of his Pernambuco. I really appreciate cues with points, inlays and now, with CNC's, wild designs but ultimately for me it is all about the natural woods. If he is still stubborn about the Pernambuco I'm sure I'll find some Bocote or Rosewood Thursday when I visit. Beautiful wood and a wonderful, crisp hit what more could one ask for?

I have a couple "near-term" cues in the pipe...and a couple "not-so-near-term" ones, too.

Close:

- Murray Tucker - Rosewood into maple fullsplice cue with piloted steel joint, hoppe ring, and ivory ferrules. It's a RE-build...but still a build.
- Kenny Murrell - 4-points of ebony, 4-natural tone veneers. Piloted steel with Juma sleeve joint. Linen wrap.

Not-So-Close:

-Joel Hercek - Lord knows when
-Southwest - Lord knows when

The maker will be Kenny Murrell ,
the cue will have inlays in the forearm the butt will be full of craze lines tribal style. And yes i'm going with a Burl nose .....

Josh Treadway

I am having Josh Treadway build a cue for me. When it is completed, I will be making a more substantial post. Josh has been wonderful to work with.
