Who's Chris Bartram's Traveling Buddy?

Chris and another player are here in Seattle, playing everyone they can and winning. Does anyone know who the other guy is? I have not seen him but I heard he is young and on the skinny side. I will get a better description later.

I think Jason Klatt has travelled with him in the past. Young, skinny, Canadian. Dark hair, baseball cap.

God, I hate the internet.... Knock, knock! Who's there? Internet knockers in every freakin corner of the internet. What's wrong with pool? Good players have a much tougher time making money because they get knocked in forums like this! I never minded getting knocked by someone making a phone call but this internet snooping is brutal......................

So do you often bet large amounts with strangers ?

Is it so unreasonable to know who you are gambling with ?

Pool needs to get past this sneaky sh!t. If you are gonna go out and try and rob people you shouldn't be surprised when they try to find out your true speed by whatever means avaiable.

It's not like the internet just popped up last week.

Good players make money by matching up with other good players not clubbing baby seals.

Action for players is scarce BECAUSE of people sneaking around trying to steal. Many of the whales who used to stake and bet on pool have walked away from the game completely because of just this type of attitude.

So you go on trying to steal a $100 a set. Why the hell would anyone with any real money bet a significant amount on a sport where under handed, sneaky ass, dishonest behavior is held up as the standard ?

You wonder why their is no money in the tournaments ? Because of this mindset. What sponsor on earth would want the image of a sneaky thief? It is not the action they mind(2 players playing like gentlemen for a wager), poker has made gambling acceptable. It is this.

You stay classy kid.

Oh yeah, I guess Jay and Nasty have never bet a quarter. You bore me.

Yes....

Not exactly... But do you want to know why there aren't as many up and coming champions as there were 10, 20, 30 years ago? Because you can get on the internet, clock a guys speed, and ask the nuts from your opponent. No one has to get up and outrun the nuts any more. Not many have so much as a weak pulse anymore, much less a heart.

So does that mean that all of the players should quit the "sneaky sh*t" gambling and put all of their trust, dreams, and aspirations in the hands of people like Don Mackey/PBT, Camel, and Kevin Trudeau??? That's the sneaky sh*t that kills pool, not road players....

Knockers have been around forever.... The growth of the internet has spawned a new breed of them, POOL DETECTIVES! The local guys wanting to match up with road players aren't the ones here asking for lines, it's the pool detectives that want to break the big case and be the first at the poolrom to out somebody! SICK!!! I want to hurl just thinking about it, freakin iggies!

Ask any and every freakin champion you run into if they could survive by playing other champions? Not a freakin chance......... Good players make money playing short stops and B players. If you think other wise, you are grossly misinformed!

Yes, that's him. I played him last week when he was in Denver. I asked him to play some $20 one pocket just to have something to do. I quit after a few hours 4 games down. He doesn't play one pocket but he shoots decent, better than me anyway. Once he realized that I was bound to make a catastrophic mistake sooner or later I had no chance.

Regarding this internet knocking buisiness, as soon as a guy gets to town everyone calls around and figures out who he is anyway. I was out of town and had 3 messages about the two road players by the time I landed, what's the difference?

Really? So if a guy walks into your local room and wants to play $2000 sets and you have no idea who he is you will play? Where do you live ? Just post the location and I'm sure you will stay busy.

There are not as many up and coming champions any more because of the myriad of distractions that kids have today they didn't have 20 years ago. Every 16-19 year old kid I meet is gonna be the next Daniel Negraneu forget about pool. Add in there are less places to play and the fact when they do find a room alot of the time, instead of bringing the guy along and promoting the game, some half ass wanna be future "Champion" is pestering them to "Show some heart" and gamble, all the while he won't match up himself with a better player unless he has the nuts. Pool will never get anywhere as long as we eat our young.

If you put your hopes and dreams in the hands of anyone other than yourself you are in for a tough road.

Let's be honest. The women have done OK for themselves. They have a stable tour with consistent leadership, nothing is perfect but at least people take them seriously. Most people I have met that could do something for pool, look at the men as the gang that couldn't shoot straight. It is a shame because many of the champions I have met are great guys who have a tremendous desire to succeed.

You wanna call me a knocker because one of the most respected members of this board came here and asked a question ? Fine. I can live with that.

Would you not try to help someone you liked and respected because it means you MIGHT knock somebodies action ? If so, what do we call you?

How much action do you think Alex, Johnny, Corey, and Francisco get from B-Players ? Where do you live again ? If the B- players are matching up like that, you should have plenty to sweat.

If I am the bad guy for wanting pool to hold its players to a higher standard than that of a simple con man then so be it.

Say good night to the bad guy.....

Your right the women have a great tour if your not in the top 8 your BROKE.
Monica has made 12,600 and she is ranked 9th by azbilliards
Hsin has made 6,970 and she is ranked 20th by azbilliards
Thats a great living you can make more at burger king.....

I learned two things quickly when I was young & didn't have many friends 'in the know' in the pool world.

#1. Don't ask where someone gets their money.

#2. Don't get involved in, make statements about, or give opinions about a game that you are not involved in.

After being around pool almost 20 years, I don't need nor would I use the internet to knock a game or a player. I either have made enough friends that I can ask for a straight answer or I might just dare--GAMBLE. But if I ask my friends, I don't announce it to the rest of the world.

What part of "it's not perfect" did you not understand ?

The women at least have a TOUR. With a single governing body to talk to sponsors and promoters. It's called a base, a foundation upon which you build something larger.

You are right though, better to just denegrate it and ***** about things.

And for the 1000'th time when the hell have you ever heard ANYONE tell somebody "Be a pro pool player kid. You'll be rich." There has never been any money for non-top 5 players. Money isn't everything, if it was they could go work at Burger King like you suggest. There is something to be said for doing what you love.
