Why don't champions match up more?

i hate to say it but its mostly ego and being scared to lose. many guys on tour are not broke and can get staked and will play nobody.its cowardly and im not gonna name names but many of the pros bet on football play poker and go off in casinos.when i ask them to play they say i dont play anymore, give me weight, they wanna fight etc.pathetic

Your right John. It is sad. I'm glad that you have the heart to get up and play if you think you have a close game. I wish the pro players were more like you. I'd bet the tournaments would draw one hell of a crowd if they knew you guys would be getting down for the cheese after elimination, similar to how they did in the old days.

They take the easy way out. It looks like its true for the pro level as well, some pro's are just tournament players.

since Mike Sigel is one of the greatest players ever to play the game, why isn't he able to make cues better than all the cuemakers he can beat.

Does he actually make those cues. I bet some of the top cue makers right now wish they could beat him since their cues are better.

i asked somebody if they watched the trickshot guys.their reply, once youve seen one show its all the same.
funny thing is i know guys that would watch archer, reyes 50 days in a row. you know why because its real ,skillfull and different everytime.

I think I have watched them 50 days in a row....if youtube counts

Here we are..... two supposed leaders in the pool world, each among the best in their own disciplines, and both are screaming ugly, disparaging, damaging, insulting remarks at each other with no more maturity than the typical Jerry Springer participants. Ain't we proud of our pool world today. Nice show guys. You're really showing the world what pool is all about. Really doing us proud.

Just one session like this one that J.S. and S.L. have put on... just one show like Earl is famous for putting on... just one of these types of things sets the pool world back in the gutter again, un-does countless hours of good work that both of you and many other good people have done and makes us all look like low class punks. That's how you're acting.. like punks with no control of your emotions whatsoever and your only values and goals being to hurt others more than you've been hurt. Nice going guys. You're really great examples we peons can be proud to call our heroes.

Edit;
Having re-read the thread it has become clear to me that Scott was not the problem. His posts have not been disparaging, rude, accusing or aggressive. John's have. Scott, I'm sorry I included you in my remarks above. You didn't deserve it.

he started it long ago with many smart remarks implying how broke all the pros are.
another thing jim you seem to think your opinion is important and the poolworld cant go on without you.
my life wont change if you love me or hate me.many on here hate me because i say what i feel even if i hurt a couple feelings .
youve ragged on me for years too no matter what i say.
then you come on here on your soapbox acting like youve never argued with anybody.
get over yourself, you probably spend 14 dollars a year in the poolworld and the rest of the time your on here pointing fingers acting like your perfect.
take care peon and if im your hero or not doesnt pay my bills.
by the way earl has made more money in pool than any guy just about.
so if i can get the rest of the pool world to hate me maybe ill land a big sponsor .thanks for writing what you did jim you might actually help my carreer.lol

John,

Only a week ago, you said: "whats the difference im a poolplayer im going to be broke my whole life anyways."

If you're a top pro who's broke, doesn't it stand to reason that other professional pool players are also having difficulty making ends meet?

Earl may be the "bad boy" of pool but he's hardly a good role model for anyone to emulate. Getting people to hate you will not garner you any sponsors and will just tarnish your reputation.

it was just a phrase. im not broke and neither are many of the poolplayers.
im like anybody else i dont actually want everybody to hate me,but ive come to realize no matter what i say or do many will give me a hard time.
i dont want to be like earl but seriously if i acted more like him i probably would make more money in pool.sad but true.

Flame wars, meltdowns, name calling, etc.......... it's all entertaining as hell. But this thread should be closed and re-started to get back on topic. JS and SL both contribute a ton to this forum and are greatly appreciated by most. Just not on this thread so far. Relax guys. Life is too short. Drink a beer. Get a massage and breath deeply. Exhale. Start over. Ty

What pro players do I badmouth? Show me ONE post where I've badmouthed ANY professional player...EVER!

Nah.

The only thing that some of his wilder actions have gotten him is a continued invite to a made for TV event where the fans love to hate him. IMO the reason Earl made what he made for as long as he did is because of his talent and skill, in spite of his outbursts, not because of them . The sad thing is many people won't remember him for the dominate play but for the antics.

You are not that guy and you don't want to become him. I know what it is like to get fed up with some things you read here and lash out. Feels good at the time and sometimes it needs to be said. More often than not though it does more harm than good. Don't sweat the noise man. Go outside and throw rocks at the neighbor kids or something, you'll feel better.

<-----just joking about the kids. Don't kick any puppies either, or get eaten by any goats.

I have been into helping your career John. In every thread where you got into it with somebody I've taken your side (except this one and I didn't take anybodys side in this one). I bought the DVD's of your 245 ball run, your race to 400 w/Harriman and your Exactly How I run 100's DVD. Two weeks ago I made a nice sized deposit directly into your paypal account and bought the cue case signed by you and Nick and which was shown on What's In The Case on youtube.

This Just in.....

This year at the Superbowl

All the players will only have their rooms paid for........

If they want to make any money they will have to make a bet with the other team, perhaps find a "stake horse" and hope for some jelly.....IF they win!!

This is a very fair sytem! ;) (insert sarcastic sound byte here)

Just curious who you are taking a shot at here?

I apologize for starting this damn thread. Man what happened.

This be known. John is a great guy. I enjoyed when you came to Huntsville on your 6 pocket exhibition. Was nice to have you here. Everyone gets aggrevated. Done it myself many times. Hate the way this one is going though. Lets get back on topic or just delete this one.

Just trying to get this thread back on topic.

Until our top players can make the money they deserve for performing, this sport will remain a "gamble". For everyone involved.
