Why don't you ever see pro players on here selling their cues?

would be cool to see archer or efren or some of those players on here selling their cue for charity or something.
 
I am sure they would not have to resort to posting on AZ to get rid of some cues. There are plenty of folks on the circuit that would gladly pay top dollar if one came up for sale.
 
It seems to me that most players are shooting with cues provided to them by makers/companies, and they likely have a deal to not sell them on, but give them back to the maker after a year or so (in exchange for a new one)...I know at least some are doing that with both cues and cases.
 
Many of them are "sold" for money to get back into the game.

There may be some that have their special cue like Corey, and Souquet but most change cues and place no value or sentiment on them. It is just a tool of the trade. Many cuemakers have stories about how some of the cues they made for players were "given way" by those players because they needed the money right now.

Here is a cue that Scott Frost had for sale on this forum. Don't think it sold for any premium and I think it is still for sale.

Just curious. Why would a "pro" have to sell his cue and give the proceeds to charity? Why couldn't he sell his property and keep the proceeds for his own use?

^^^^ Same reason you don't see golfers give away their clubs. They use them till you can't use them anymore. They get comfortable with it. And the last thing you want to do is change and take the time to get used to the new cue. For people who aren't as serious as them they probably won't notice. But take even a fraction of the weight off and they'll notice. Sometimes change really isn't good. And the goes doubly for people in a special trade or sport.
 
I believe Louie once "sold" the same cue to several people. He was a character.

I think alot of players,their sponspers give them there cue,that they play with,and it wiouldnt be right to sell something that is giving to you,would it?just my guess dont hold me to it!

a similar topic came up this past weekend, i've heard that cue makers are getting to the point now where they dont want to sponsor players with cues, because they dont use them, they just sell them, which is pretty shitty.

I've heard that with sponsored golfers, the serial numbers on the clubs they receive are recorded, if the sponsor finds the clubs for sale, whether it be in a pro shop database, ebay, etc. the player will automatically lose their sponsorship.
with golf, i can see that being a little more detrimental, but i dont know, i'm not a pro golfer or a pro pool player :D
 
I would say a big reason is you don't often hear pro pool player and philanthropist mentioned in the same sentence.
 
Everyone comes to az for Free stuff-some are anomic

there have been a few I was offered- like 6,000. for 2 cues.(a ten and 25 yr anniversary additions. AZ market is tough in the upside down world of Pool. Last movie was 1985 Pool is flat. Very similar to the housing Market- flat. I feel sorry for anyone having to make a living nowadays, off this internet site.mark
