Why is nobody talking about Busty & Alex????

Does the winner get to play Shane for Big Money?

My question is directed to the aspect that while it is a very good match, it is just another match as are all TAR matches.

I thank Mark & Justiin for all that they do for the Game of Pocket Billiards. They have provided a 'life boat' so to speak for a stuggling game with no real direction.

I am just saying that since there is no long term goal, no Championship, there are no real consequences either. The loser of this match could be back in a few weeks playing someone else. There is no real King of the Hill aspect.

Personally I would rather see a structured mechanism of some kind to where at the end someone is the TAR Champion for the season, even if it is in name only and a Trophy Belt that is held to the end of the next 'season'.

I am sure it would not be too hard to figure something out, although I do understand the logistics problems & the matchup problems & the desire for different games, etc.

So... while I think it would make the matches more interesting, I do realize the problems involved.

So... the Alex - Busty match should be a VERY good one.

But...It's just a match.

I hope all see my point & please take no offense as non is intended. This is just my personal take & opinion & means nothing in the big picture.

I was just trying to answer the question.

Thanks again to Mark & Justin for all that you do for The Game.

Regards,

I think these next two matches are the most exciting of the TAR matches recently and they are back to back. I wonder if there is an option to purchase both at a discount price. I am not sure why there is not more talk or debate on who will win but the action room is looking weak mainly because people are scared and do not know which way to bet, perhaps a bit confused because there are two Filipinos battling it out.

No, the action room has been quiet because someone tried, and I think failed, to book it.

Didn't Nasty use to say "keep your money in your pocket and enjoy the show"???

Yes I know but I have a feeling that a good deal of people who watch TAR matches do so not just because they love pool but also because they have a horse in the race. I won't watch most stuff unless I can bet on it and even if I do bet on it I sometimes do not watch it all unless the match up is epic which this one certainly is. This match is tight and people do not know which way to bet I think, I would say Alex is a slight favorite in one pocket, Busty in the 10 ball and the 8 ball will be interesting.

No, I agree. I'll sweat a little on it but I just don't see anyone as a real favorite. They both could sweep.

Thats from my rules for pool gambling:

1. Never bet against Shane
2. Never bet against a Filipino
3. If Shane is playing a Filipino keep your money in your pocket and enjoy the show.

I don't have a rule for when a Filipino plays a Filipino. I guess Rule 2 could apply but it wasn't written with that situation in mind. I honestly cant pick a favorite. I think Alex is the favorite in the one hole but after that who knows. I am really excited for the next two weeks.

I hear you and I agree. Soon as someone figures out how to schedule people who live on the other side of the planet and have no idea what they are doing from one month to the next I would love to hear the solution.

I think my interest is only tapped when there are American names in the mix. I admire both alex an buste, but if either one of them was playing any American player i would secretly be rooting for the underdog American. Now that being said svb an effren is huge. And I think Efren is underdog and i am 100 percent svb. But if Efren wins i be happy as all get out. And he could win underdog might not be a good word to descibe Efren. Buste to win btw...

Here is an idea to get some more interest perhaps. What about a chance for viewers to win some dough either from a random drawing or by picking winners and match scores. You could enter anyone who has bought the 3 day package and take one dollar from everyone who does and the winner gets that money. If you have 500 viewers then someone wins $500, giveaway a Shane instructional or a PPV pass on days 1 and 2. Accu-stats gave away $1000 to some dude the other day, pretty cool for the viewers to sweat the guys they picked on those matches.

I'm totally pumped for this matchup. It's always great to see these guys play. Although I haven't had the chance to play Alex personally, I did get to witness Busty first hand as he destroyed me in a race a while back for $50. Haha. It was a pleasure though. They both move the ball pretty well, and when Busty is on gear, he's crazy! However, if I had to choose right now, I'd say Pagulayan. Not comparing top games, but I think his average game is slightly stronger at the moment.

Justin,

I hear you & I know & I understand. I was just spouting off for what I & perhaps others would want in a 'perfect world'.

Again I thank you & Mark for what you both do.

Maybe we can get Obama to install a missile defense system on the Philippine Islands & then move them just off the California coast.

No he won't do that. He's a basketball guy.

Regards,

I'm pumped, but I don't really feell like I have a dog in the fight. I can't wait to watch, but I like both equally, and don't care who wins. I can't place a bet either, because I think both can run away with any of the 3 games.

I can't wait to watch this one!!!!!!!!!!!

We are working on a big giveaway for the US Open 1P, 8Ball and 10 Ball events in July. I want to give away the streaming table. Its just a matter of getting Diamond on board. I think that would be a pretty cool promotion. Watch the best in the world play all week and then have a shot to win the table. Its a pretty big bite though so we have to see how it works out.

Although I haven't really posted about it these next two TAR matches are must buys for me. I don't know how you can possibly pick a favorite between Alex and Busty. It's gonna be a great match.

Wowowowow. THAT'S what I'm talkin about! :)

And then the following weekend Shane/Efren all around. I just can't believe people arn't poopin their pants like I am! 4 of the best players on earth about to play all arounds! I wish Orcullo was invovled!

I've been posting about both of these on my FB page and local pool groups. I'm not pooping my pants exactly, but I'm stupid excited about both of these. :)

Do these challenge matches ever get sold as downloads? Or can the streams be purchased afterwards for viewing?

I for one am really excited about this one. If it wasn't for the tragic events in Boston I would be on a plane Friday AM to watch (you don't want to fly in to US during heightened security unless you like going to the proctologist).

This one and next week are fabulous matches.

Pool in NYC has never been better (in recent years) over the past year. Steinway Billiards has recharged some life into this area has been action central. A healthy mix of road players, pros and gamblers. Action Action Action! Last night Shaw/Strickland played Busty/Kiamko on the 5x10 while the 9' tight tables were in constant action. I heard Scooter and Jorge Rodriguez were going to play a big set, but I left early.

Pool, at least in my area, is alive and well.

But in general, it's been non stop. Always something to sweat and bet on.

Who won the matches between Earl/Shaw and Busty/Warren?
