Why Was That Thread Closed?

I think Timberly would also be happy being a moderator. She was nice enough to give me that little red box below my name. For what reason and what it means, I do not know. Timberly, I'll make sure I buy you a beer at the DCC as a 'thank you'.

I don't see a red box underneath your name. There is a green round circle right next to your name, though. However, mine is RED, and it is the only one that is RED in this whole thread. What does that mean?

I'm guessing that it means you're invisible. :)

By golly, you're right, AlterEgo! :p

Green circles mean a poster is online. Red circles mean a poster is invisible, but online. Gray circles mean a poster is offline.

I am speaking of the lil box under the word 'posts' next to your name. Well the box was red until someone was nice enough to make me green again. Click on 'user cp' at the top of the page to see negative comments people left you. I have two from Timberly, one from JAM, and from pillage6. I am not sure how they left them but once someone just left me a 'nice' comment the red went away. That person gets a hug, a beer and also the beer I was going to buy Timberly.:D

So I apologize for dismissing your opinion (although you have to admit, your post could have been more civil).

An apology with an admonishment, how nice. Let me tell you a short story. I have been playing 1 hole with a friend of mine on Saturdays whenever my wife didn't have something else planned. Two weeks ago I walk in and my friend tells me how bad I look about 5 times in front of the other players. I just let it go. Later he is playing a low percentage shot which will end up in a sell out if he misses. He has the same shot on another ball but if he misses he will send the balls toward our pocket. So I make a suggestion. He blows up, makes his shot and sells the farm. He commenced to getting rather schitty with me. I told him it wasn't in his best interest to get schitty with me. I go to the bathroom and come back and he changed partners and wouldn't play with me.
I sent him an apology Christmas eve and told him I didn't need any more enemys who should have been friends and was looking forward to playing with him again. He thanks me and says he wants to be friends, then he goes and tells me he knew there was something wrong with me when I came in and how it was all my fault. Same kind of apology you are trying to lay on me. I don't have a problem you, OZ, or anyone else on this forum. I have expressed my disapointment with where we are headed. That is my right to do so. I am not getting into no ass kissing contest with any of you.

but you don't list his experience or how he moderated in the past?
every forum is different!
A forum is a forum, period. The only thing that's different is the topic the forum is based upon and the format in which to have it on(vbulletin like this or one like CCB or RSB). The way they work is still the same and internet posters are the same everywhere.

No, I'm not going to list anything else about what I said. You can believe it or not believe it, that's up to you. I must say that I personally find it odd that you of all people are so hell bent on details. You go out of your way to delete your posts on a monthly basis so that no one can reference anything you say or do but yet this is the 2nd time you've pushed me to give you details. I don't ask you to not to delete your posts... I respect your decision to do so. You should respect my decision to exercise discretion when I choose to do so.

my question was in no way meant to be disrespectful to you timberly.
i'm sorry if you feel otherwise. i bear no ill will toward you what so ever.
i'm not "hell bent" or "pushing" for details.
you could have posted that you would rather not go into detail and i would have been just fine with that.

as far as deleting old posts, i have never understood why this bothers other people. for some reason it just gives me the creeps to leave old stuff up. i guess it's just another one of my quirks or imperfections. :)

i do disagree with your opinion that "a forum is a forum". but please don't take it personally it's just a difference of opinion. :)

Ahhhh... So that's how that works.

Well then I have to thank someone for removing two totally uncalled for bad reps that I had received when I was just asking a couple Qs.

did you check your points total babs? :)
my points total has actually gone up while a couple green reps disappeared since the new software. also it only shows your most recent reps not the entire history.

Wow, I have a lot of points. But I did ask Mike about it as to whether you accumulate so many points and you get your butt automatically launched and he said that wasn't going to happen.

And I thought green was good? So how do those points thingies work?

Timberly, do you not think that it would be prudent to give this moderation thing a little time? :p

Being a moderator must suck a big weenie if this is the outcome, an uncharacteristic backlash by some veteran posters, some who write very negative posts condemning Mr. Wilson for his efforts. :(

In 1986, I was chosen to be a TD for a State tournament, and I had to keep a sense of order during the 2-day affair.

During the thick of it, Freddie Bogg's brother, Scottie Boggs, came up to me and said it was not fair that his brother had to wait so long between matches. They wanted to go home, but couldn't because of the down time, and he wanted me to do something right away.

Meanwhile, an older player named Ed Gast was taking 5 and 10 minutes between shots and holding up the charts big time. I asked him to hurry it along, but he kept on shooting pool at a snail's pace.

Then there was Geese who got knocked out of the tournament early, sitting in the corner like a spoiled brat. Every time I looked his way, he would flip me the bird.

The owner of the pool room kept coming over to me and saying he wanted the tournament to end that night because he was losing table time monies.

I was beside myself, but one thing I did learn is that no matter what I did, it was not going to please everybody.

I think Mr. Wilson is in this position right now. I say give it some time and let this moderation thing settle. I believe he is only trying to help. JMHO, FWIW!

Boy, I know what you mean! I have run lots of tournaments and started a NW regional tour for women. Talk about not making everyone happy! HooBoy! I guess we have to go on and do what we think is right, even if that makes some people mad.

Ok, I have 85 little points. :o

Hi Barbara,

When is it? Where is Vero Beach? I have not been concentrating on WPBA tournaments, although I might next year, as we are going to have a lot of qualifiers. I missed 2 of the 4 regional tournaments this year, so I don't even think I am in the top 10 players. Oh, just looked at the standings and I was 9th. Extrapolating data and doubling my score, I would have been somewhere 1st thru 4th place. I will try to attend more this coming year.

I am taking so much time off work for the IPT in 2006, that that is all I want to do, with the exception of BCA in May, and some weekend regional tour stuff.

Anyway, I don't think I qualify this year for it, but look out next year! Thanks for asking.

Linda

Back on topic - I too wish there were a graveyard of old threads, with a lock to prevent new posts. Being new, I would like to re-read what has gone on before my time. But I understand Mr. Wilson has a thankless job and is taking it seriously.

Hey Linda!!

The Regional Tour Championships are on Jan 28th/29th at Cunningham's Pool and Darts in Vero Beach, Florida. The format is, you are invited from each Regional Tour from the top 6 positions according to Semi-Pro/Amatuer rank in each tour. After that, the open spots will be divided up for players for each Tour.

The entry fee is $100 per player and the winner gets a free ride for all 7 events to the WPBA events for 2006. The rest of the field gets paid out 50% from the entry fees. GOOD DEAL!!

Linda, contact your Regional Tour Coordinator because the expense can be a hinderance to many players and you may be able to secure a spot!

I'm finally going for it!!

I probably have 0, which is why I can't see them; however, just in case, where do you look to see them?

Thanks.
