Willie's cue sells for $92,000.

Keith busted? That was probably the first time ever!

Thanks for the laughs.

Kevin

PS - You outta roust his butt and get him playing pool again (although I can't for the life of me figure what would be in it for him, there's no money to be made) now that on-line poker is dead (or has that been resolved?).

Believe me, he wants to play again. It's now me that is the stop sign. I've personally been beaten up by pool, financially, emotionally, and physically, but I am today trying to regain my enthusiasm. :)

I hear you, its a heart breaker, but don't stop a man from what he loves. Keith was possibly the most entertaining and popular guy in pool, there's gotta be a way. Getting in stroke might be a start (you too).

At this juncture, it looks like we will hit a few events in the coming year. If you knew what we both went through, how much we tried to make pool work for both of us, you would understand better, but I can't go into it on the open forum. There were some good times, though, for sure, but they were quite costly, financially, emotionally, and physically! :)

[P.S. Still curious to see if I won anything. I bid on 23 lots, mostly contracts. They called me yesterday to see if I wanted to continue to bid on the phone and I told them no. I was in the jacuzzi and it was a beautiful day! I have my priorities in order.[/QUOTE]

Jay,
Go to www.huntauctions.com
current live auction
view all items

find your lot numbers and compare your bid to the "Sold For Price" in the last column. These prices are before the 15% fee. If they match your price,
"Come on down. You're a winner on the Price Is Right".

(By the way, I'm the guy who gave you the "Flair Hair" visor at the Derby. Hope you had fun with it.)

This is the cue i would buy if i had the cash.
Kevin now your showing your age. I guess you have about 10 years on Jen.
I know that Mizeracks Balabuska is for sale. The one he won the US open.
His wife is asking in the range of 100k. Here is a picture of it on top of a picture of Steve holding it. You can't get better provenance. I believe it has 4 shafts. & a leather case with the MIZ on it.

Each year they have an Italian-American Gala in D.C. My cousin Janet, who was a Ms. Virginia, was married to the late Vincent Edwards when he passed. Vince Edwards played "Ben Casey" on an hold sitcom for the youngn's who don't know.

When Vince and Janet came to the Virginia area to attend the gala, they picked up my birth mother and her husband, who's Italian, and took them to the banquet in a limousine. They had the time of their life! Here's the link for further info: The National Italian American Foundation

I wonder if Willie ever went to one of these galas.

Interestingly, my partner knew Vince Edwards from the racetrack when he lived in California. :p

Willie Mosconi should have been invited. I'm going to do a little research and find out if he was. ;)

He also used to come in the Billiard Den in Hollywood and bang 'em around. Vince was a well known gambler in the Hollywood scene, much like Omar Sharif. I'm sure he blew a fortune in his life. Just ask your cuz. ;)

She told me quite a few stories about him, like the time they were with Milton Berle at a party. I can't repeat what Milton did on a bet in the open forum, but let's just say that he and Tony Watson have something in common. Well, I've never seen either, just what I've been told. :D

Jen, just hit the local tourneys in your area where there is no travel expense. Keith can have his fun, get in stroke and it won't cost much. Him playing again (even if locally) will only add to his legacy. Keith is ONE OF A KIND! I loved him and hated him at the same time. He can explain that to you!

TRUE, this is also well known in Hollywood, or it was at the time. Uncle Miltie was extremely well hung!

Now three

wow, I think I have the same picture signed by Willie and I think his wife. You must have got that in 92 or so in maybe Kansas City.

Must be a pretty common picture. I have the same one also, even the same frame. Only difference is where that says "Sports Center", mine says "Beach Club".

As a young boy I hoped for a subdural hematoma so that Ben Casey would operate on me. Beyond a doubt, the finest Hollywood doctor EVER. A remembrance:

The Glenn brothers came to my shop after leaving Will Prout's house. They picked up a couple of cues I was restoring for them.

They told me that they were not going to participate in the auction at all.

Mosconi collage

Willie Mosconi's Balabushka sold at auction tonight for $92,000.

I just got home from the auction in Chicago. Very interesting.

Of course the highlight was Willie's Buska, which bid from the online offer of
$20,000 to $80,000 plus 15% buyers fee.

There were only about 10 to 12 people there in person.

Probably 3 phone bidders for the Bushka.

I was successful bidder on his 1985 contract with Harrah's, to be their
"Good Will Ambassador" for 1 year, for $40,000. (Lot no. 358 in the auction.)

I have a collage of photographs of Mosconi as a child & adult along with autograph.

Will trade for Gina or Szymbati cue.

Although I doubt you will get a Szamboti cue for them we would like to see them never the less. Post a picture. By the way, that may be one of the worst guesses at the spelling of Szamboti on here in a long time.

LOL! Nope. When I met Keith, the only thing he had in his possession were the clothes on his back. He didn't even have a cuestick, as Jose Parica, who was supposed to deliver it to him at a tournament, left it in California. :embarrassed2:

JAMMY JAM,

Triangle Billiards in Orange CA used to have an old cue of Keith's. I remember it had diamonds (the hardened carbon kind) set into it. Do you think Keith remembers that cue? What was the significance, if any, of that cue?

Thanks and sorry for the hijack.

Where was the auction held ?

At the National Italian American Sports Hall Of Fame
Chicago

But mostly it was held over phone lines. Only about 10-12 bidders in attendance.

And I believe Mosconi played with a Brunswick, then a Rambo until the 1970's.
