World Cup of Pool set for LIVE US airing on ESPN

They need desperately to keep Jim Wyche commentating every match. The others seem to know very little about 9-ball...not understanding how the push out works, not understanding the concept of an offense/defensive shot, or even knowing that you can use more than one rail for position. Several times they called a shot "great" despite the shooter hooking himself for the next shot...

It's nice to see some Wych appreciation.
He was a top 32 snooker player and the last time he played Efren...
....he lost hill/hill....9-ball at the Derby.

I think he and Danny D are a great team.

Taiwan is what China calls the country...

Wang Can plays for team China

Chinese Taipei's was Chang Yu-lung & Hsu Kai Lun surprised that Ko Pin Ye was not on that team
and i dont know why that team is called Taipei and not team Taiwan Taipei is a city in Taiwan
seems strange having a team named after a city not the country

Chinese Taipei is the name agreed upon in the Nagoya Resolution whereby the Republic of China (ROC) and the People's Republic of China recognize each other when it comes to the activities of the International Olympic Committee and has been used by the ROC as the basis when participating in various international organizations and events, including the Olympics, Miss Universe, Paralympics, Asian Games, Asian Para Games, Universiade, World Baseball Classic, Little League World Series, and FIFA World Cup.

"Chinese Taipei" to the PRC is ambiguous about the political status or sovereignty of the ROC/Taiwan, to the ROC is a more inclusive term than just Taiwan (which is to the ROC just one part of that region and to the PRC associated with independence of the area from the PRC) and Taiwan China might be construed as a subordinate area to the PRC.

Help clear up your question???

Did Amar and Raj have a cool entrance to the pit when they entered the tournament room? Last year was so cool!

They are playing now for Team India, but I can't get it. :(

Photo from Raj's FB fan page. Amar has lost weight.

I just got it. 3 to 2, India. Go India. Beat the Brits. Go India.

Oh, the irony of it all. Raj lives in England and Amar in United States. LOL

Several of the Euros live in the US as well - Darren, Thorsten, Mika. It's interesting that Alex is playing for Canada, but so many of those guys are playing for their country of birth rather than where they live.

Alex has dual citizenship, of course.

More Euro players live here than those three, BTW. ;)

They should just call it the america cup...

They should just call it the America's cup since so many of the players playing live and or compete mostly in the US and north america...

Im sure you are right but i cant think of many or i just dont know about them.

Crosby and Broumpton are now citizens. I guess you could count them kinda.

Vidal is on the citizen road as well but he was a 'C' player when he got here so i cant count him.

My memory and pool knowledge is not what it once was.

I've noticed the same thing. I do like Ted Lerner though. He knows he doesn't know the game that well and sticks to what he does know. He understands the emotions of the players and the gravity of the situation. The English guy Nick ? doesn't have a clue for the most part. He openly roots for England and his comments are off target most of the time. He is just talking to fill space imo.

What a great event high quality all the way
great production great stream great players
good prize money good format for TV,
they move the matches right along no waiting
between matches shot clock keeps each match
going with a good pace and the short races and
rules are good for close matches matchroom got it right imo

They need you in the booth. Why aren't you there?

Yeah, and Alex is Filipino or Candadian.

Anyway, since India, despite having a billion+ people, can't field a competitive team apparently, it's great that Raj and Amar are tapped to compete instead of simply filling the slot with another second team from a "pool" country.

Single elimination races to seven are BRUTAL.

If already discussed...sorry, I missed it.

Why does England have two teams? Because they host the event?

Actually...

Correct, host country gets 2 teams. Seems like more often than not, the event is held in the UK also.

This will be the 9th time that the WCOP has been held, and the UK has only hosted it 3 times. The Philippines has hosted it 4 times and the Netherlands has hosted it twice.

i wonder if the legalized gambling they have on this event
keeps it from being held in the states
