World Cup of Pool

Poor positional play did Russia in, Hungary wins, 7 games to 4.

Up next, the Philippines (6) against Singapore...

It's over, after a miss of Stepanov. Congratulation Hungary.

Yup, two mistakes in a row by Stepanov. Made a position error, leaving Chinakov nothing close to the angle requested. Chinakov had to play a power draw and ran into an object ball leaving Stepanov something missable. Stepanov hit it poorly and sealed his team's disappointing fate.

Hungary played well, and certainly deserved the 7-4 win.

I don't like the way Dennis uses their extension, he should save it for the more critical moments. Singapore got back 1 game, but still trailing 2 games to 1...

Philippines over Singapore, 7 games to 3. Next match will be a good one, Chinese Taipei vs. Greece.

Finally!

Greece took a rack from the Taiwanese. It's still a long uphill climb for them though, Chinese Taipei in full control, 5 games to 1...

The sleeping giant just woke up. Chinese Taipei 7 Greece 1.

Ko Pin Yi and JL Chang were both excellent in this one and this team looks very dangerous.

Chinese Taipei ended Greece''s misery with a 7 games to 1 trashing. It was surgical, swift and painless, the Greeks didn't even feel it!

Thanks. Looking forward to another big entrance from them tonight LOL

Taiwan playing on much higher level than yesterday. The Pool Devil and Prince of Pool are ready to win their first WCP
Ted Lerner's theory is that teams have to overcome adversity to then dig deep and the play in the zone. Which means England A are in danger of going out tonight against Italy as they had easy whitewash of Indonesia last night

I like the fact that no teams are really dominating with the break. Nine ball racked on the spot (according to one poster) and the illegal break rule are ensuring that, even in a shot race, both teams are having their chances. Yes, the break and run is, at times, the most boring thing in pool. All these tactical exchanges and tug-of-wars, along with all the ebbs and flows work for me. Add that to short race and winner breaks, which ensure that the door is always open for a comeback, and what we have here is an electrifying event. Add to that the exceptional commentary of Jimmy Wych, and this really is a treat.

This is some of the most fascinating pool I've watched this year, and rest assured, I've watched plenty of pool in 2013.

OMG, major upset of the day coming up. Japan 4-2 USA
No cushion error from Shane gifted Japan ball in hand in rack 5
:D
