World PROFESSIONAL 9 Ball Pool Championship

We have some other good ideas lined up for Pool Town

Have you ever wanted to play against one of your idols in front of the cameras, complete with a referee and with full commentary.
Well this could be your chance. We are setting up an extra arena table in Pool Town where you can do just that. Every day a different top player will play a rack (or maybe two) against you. We will film it, add commentary and produce a DVD complete with sleeve notes in a case for posterity.
That will be something to show the grandchildren.
Who would YOU like to play?

So far 32 out of the first 52 invited players have accepted invitations. Only 20 spots left so reply before another batch of invitations are sent out next Friday. So if you are not in you may be OUT.

I will not publish list until all the spots are filled - but it's looking good.

This sounds great.

The tournament is at the end of May, correct?

The players will need passport and Visa, correct?

Will I have a telestrator for the commentary?

Thanks,
JoeyA

will this have any conflict with the WPA World 9 ball that was just confrimed? two world 9ball championships?
also, I would probably bet that noone runs 9 racks for a cruise, yet 10 and 11 would be even more out of reach. I guess if someone does run a package that big, it better be 11 ! LOL
Nigeria is a pretty bad place and im hearing that people should not travel there. no matter what city. if anyone has any thoughts , fill me in.
sounds exciting to me though, im thrilled to go.

Bump

Doug,
Any updates you can share with us? I for one am looking forward to this someday coming to fruition. The last tournament was woefully lacking in coverage and I know you and the crew you select are capable of an even finer production that the gazillionaires tried to pull off.

Best of luck Doug in your attempts to promote large scale professional events for pooldom!

The project was put on the back boiler for a number of reasons, not least because of the recent death of Nigeria's President.
But today I made tentative steps to revive the project.
I will keep you posted on developments

It now looks that we can start to put the event back on the tracks. We are looking over a new contract which is broadly on the same terms as the original and because of the success of South Africa in staging the World Cup soccer the Government are anxious to do the pool event sooner rather than later.

Anyone interested in making suggestion about this tournament? Please read the original thread before you post any.

Sounds GREAT! We need more interest in pool, and if this event takes off, it will definitely be good for exposure.

It would be nice if there was a way to get this in the a whole lot of press BEFORE the event commences, generating maybe some folks who will be pulling for their home team, so to speak. :)

Doug,

I forgot to mention in my PM yesterday that I also now have the capabilities to provide broadcast services. I'm talking TV-ready content similar to what you'd see on Billiard Club Network. I can offer these services at a drastically reduced rate of anything that Kazoom or someone else would offer.

I've already managed to secure contracts with other promoters, so please send me a PM if you're interested.
