It has been a curious, but exciting, day here in New Jersey.

Just moments ago, Oliver Ortmann ran 100 and out against AZB's own Marop. Oliver ran 100 and out against Zion Zvi this morning, and two one-inning wins in a single day is almost unfathomable. Oliver looks the man to beat right now. Thorsten has probably been second best in the field to this point, and Stefan Cohen has played very well, too,

Mika has been in decent form, but had to come form behind against Dan Louie, 100-86 I think.

Tony Robles was well behind in his match with Shawn Wilkie but Tony rallied impressively for the win and is now nearly certain of a spot in the next round.

Steve Lipsky was involved in a nailbiter with Carmen Lombardo, and Steve bet the match on a tricky combo with both players in the nineties. He hit it like a charm and went on to win 100-95, ensuring his spot in the next round.

What look like a thriller up to the 50's between Barouty an Hopkins fizzled when both players began to make very uncharacteristc errors. Hopkins ended up winning 100-60 to take the group at 5-0, with Barouty settling for 4-1 and second in rhe group.

Jimmy Gottier matched up with Yu Ram Cha in a match where the winner would advance to the next round and the loser would not. Jim played a thoughtful and disciplined match to defuse the capable, but overmatched rising Korean star.

Madenjian came off a 100-99 loss against Ralf Eckert with no break to play Mika Immonen . After taking a scratch, Mika proceeded to run 101 and out, taking the high run prize for the day from Oliver with his two 100s.

Did anyone hear about the results of the Zvi v Lipsky match? Anyone? Beuller?

I hear Lipsky ran 87 and out and figured there would only be about 42 posts on here about it by now.

:) Thanks everyone for the updates...we're working on starting a 14.1 group here in Vegas hopefully starting January.

Ok, you guys got me hooked

Oliver just ran 150 and out for 3 consecutive no miss games. Immpressive

Impressive? Uhh, yeah!

I don't think straight pool gets any better than what I just saw him play.

and whatever happened to Danny Harriman, he is not thier either.

I think when he heard John Schmidt would not be there he didn't want to go either, because it would just have been TOO easy ;-)

Thanks for the updates sde.

Agree: it is beyond impressive. I watched two of the three runs on AccuStats including today's 150. It's hard to believe at so many levels. Just holding the concentration to do that is amazing. And the shot making, and the speed, and the direction, and the patterns; it is all too much!
The interview following today's match was telling; he's a feel player and doesn't spend much energy 'thinking too much'. His style is freewheeling and confident which keeps him 'in the moment'. What a player.
