I take heart meds. I'm 66, an these bastards would charge me $2.00 for a 6 o.z. cup of tap water. Thank god I am always packing. ;)

Good thread. I hope for the sake of the new owners that people who look at the thread understand that the thread is old...

There will always be people who want to run a business, yet seem determined to run it into the ground. You have to wonder what's going on in such a person's head: "This business would be GREAT if it weren't for the f*****' customers!"

wow my mistake, why are people still posting on this? cant they let it go? if it happened 2 yrs ago then stop kicking a dead horse and let it go.

The post bumping it into the present is one informing us that they have new ownership. It's not hard.

This place is probably out of business by now.

Guys the thread was re-opened by the new owner ( first-time poster) and his buddy (another 1st time poster) to let us know it had changed hands .

They might have been better off to start a new thread , but I'm betting as brand -new users they don't know how yet.

The point is that they are trying to make it better .

GOOD LUCK TO THEM !!!!

The new owners really should have started a new thread and possibly added a link to this one, but, shtt happens, and another dead horse arrises from the grave:groucho: Hey, now you know there's another nice place to play in that area, hopefully.

Back in 1992-96 Snookers was a nice place to play, they even had stadium seating to sweat the matches.

I hope the new owners restore it to it's former glory days.

One thing that gets on my last nerve is table time for a tournament AND table time to practice. I started a poll recently on that topic and 95% of people responding agreed that you should not double dip on table time.

I know a place that did that and even though the owner was a heck of a nice guy I quit playing in his events because of that.

Okay, something isn't adding up:

We have the OP who says Snookers in Tallahassee is a lousy pool joint as evidenced by the way so many were treated at this weekends US Open qualifier. This sentiment was backed up by a few others who also attended.

Toward the end of the thread we have two brand new azb members, Tiger117 & southwestkid, both posting their very first messages here saying Snookers is under new management, come and enjoy!

Are these two new posters, simply shills for Snookers unfriendly owners, attempting to do damage control?

It doesn't make sense otherwise that people are complaining over bad treatment on the weekend then on Monday, new posters are announcing the place is under new ownership.

Clarification please.

Best,

just curious... why should you ever expect to play for free?

you don't expect to eat or drink for free if there is a tournament so why is there an expectation that table time should be free?

I was at this tournament, and my friends were charged $2 for a small cup of ice water...not even bottled.

I have been a patron at Snookers since they have opened and entered about 90% of the tournaments held there and have also supported them since opening.

I questioned the owner about the charging of water, playing time fees while tourney was late getting started, and he would not let players warm up before game after sitting for an hour or more. When I approached him (I WAS THE QUIET ONE) he got very loud and then his brother came over and proceeding in telling me he was going to BEAT MY AZZ.

I am 61 yrs old and was threatened by both of them and I am the one that got barred! Never in my life have I been barred from anywhere. This is a disgrace to Tallahassee. What a shame that a grown man has to behave in this manner, while hurting others in the process.

Ive never sued anyone in my life but in this case I think I would have taken the beatingcalled a good lawyer, and then run my new poolroom the way I want to. I hope the new owners turn it around and make it sucsesfull.

I don't think Larry is interested in promoting pool, he is sucsessful and it works for him.

Most successful pool halls/bars I've been to work because the management supports the pool players, as well as the drinkers. But sometimes it's hard to do both. Like Friday and Saturday nights, when the business is more focused on selling alchohol. I think that is why most serious players I know are usually not at the pool rooms at those times.

bad pool rooms

I was at a poolroom in Titusville,fl, and we were betting a thousand a set. We started playing around 10pm and at 11:45 the owner, calls last game. There were 4 other tables going, and of course we offered to tip out nice, if we could keep playing. The A$$hole, acted offended, and made us quit anyway. They also stopped bca league in there because the guy wouldn't give out any team drinks. I haven't been back since, but I hope the place went under.

I know when I peddled cues, I ALWAYS offered jelly to the room owner...at least 10% up to 20% depending how well
I did. Room owners have become somewhat sensitive to someone selling cues in their house when they sell them too. I dont defend Larry, who I know but I will say 20% isnt way outta line either. The cue repair didnt have to get pissed and leave, he could have settled out of court for 15% and still made a killing.

What? They agreed on 10% upfront if I understand correctly?
