Would a calculator be allowed at the table?

If you are just interested in knowing if a calculator is allowed you would have to check you local rules. I would think in most cases the answer would be no.
If you really need to calculate the spot on the rail I would suggest you learn the off the rail aiming system. This is sometimes called spot on the wall system. You just use your aiming system for whole diamonds then you use the spot on the wall. I know this is an over simplification but if you do a little research I am sure you can get a thorough explanation of the system. Probably Dr Dave or Bob Jewitt have some articles explaining this in detail.

I've never heard of a spot on the wall for 1 railers like the SID's, but you raise an interesting question.

I can't wait for your 666th post.

I hope the devil removes your fingers. Bit harsh. I hope he removes your computer instead.

:)

Pidge, about 75% of your posts are in response to my threads. If my fingers are removed, what else would you talk about?

let's just ask the question that matters.

There are no dumb questions. There are, however, dumb people who ask questions.

It would take too long to measure precisely, so we have to make some visual assumptions as best we can.

Replace 'measure' with 'calculate' and you just answered your own question. If you concede that visual assumptions are necessary at a point, then there's no need for a calculator.

Sometimes I will have a long rail SID and the multiplication is something like 3.4 x 2.8 or something similar. If I really need to pocket the ball, it needs to be exact. It would be much easier if I just had a calculator to do the math quickly.

Why not use your calculator during practice in an effort to get to where you don't need it during regular play.
I have never used a calculator or computed numbers in my head in an effort to make a bank. Experience is what you need. If people like you spent half as much time practicing as they did trying to find short cuts you would find that your game could progress more than you thought was possible.

How much time do you actually spend learning the game on the cloth?

First, why would anyone else be concerned with the time I spend practicing?

Second, is it not the attentiveness during the practice that is more important than the amount of time spent practicing? Maybe you should ask how attentive I am when I am playing. But then, how would I make a contextual reply that was significant? The attention you put towards something can hardly be put into words so that the receiver of the information understands the message as you intended. And if that is the case, why bother sending the message in the first place?

I, personally don't care about the length, attentiveness or lack there of, of your practice. I only brought it up in an effort to draw your attention to the possibility that you are avoiding the work necessary to improve.
You don't seem to want to get better. Sad really......

Most Rules only allows shared equipment to be used, bridge, rack, chalk, OBs. CB

A calculator? Really?

:rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:

OMFG! That's funny as hell!

Thanks for the laugh!

Judging by the way this thread has gone, I will be carrying a calculator with me from now on, when ever I go looking for a game...

Is not a glove considered equipment? Under these rules, can I request the equal usage of my opponents glove?

This falls under medical conditions, which is allowed. Same as wheel chair, special eye glasses, hearing aid, and other things..
