I didn't have any involvement with this deal, but wanted to see a happy ending between 2 people I know.. Ken Carfagno does his own cue business and has a good name..
As Kam stated, He and I have done many High End deals with the greatest of ease, and I have great respect for those transactions.

This is very true, Shafts do change sometimes. I had a Szam that had 2 perfect shafts when I bought it, it was a 3 year old cue that hadnt ever been used when I recieved it, about 6 months later one of the shafts was warped real bad the other is still perfect, who knows why, its nobodys fault. When I got the cue it was perfect. I have had shafts go bad and then get straight, sometimes in a few days other times over a few months, what matters is the butt.

You are not providing a service here to anyone. I think everyone knowa that this is getting worked out, and nobody is placing blame on either party. Things happen. It is not a perfect world. Nothing underhanded is going on here.
Both parties are reasonable, upstanding people. Good options have already been given without the interference of anyone else. This is getting worked out.
The purpose of this thread as I see it, was just to get some feedback on how a bit of a wobble can affect the potential value of a great cue. The OP was just trying to get some feedback while mulling over his options.

I agree you will never be happy with the cue and will always associate it with being screwed over.
I'd take either new shafts at no charge to you or a refund in this case...or perhaps a huge credit from the dealer.

As for the cue... if you paid $4000 for this thing then the seller needs to make sure this cue is perfect and as advertised. If the seller believes the shafts can be re-worked and made to to be straight, then offer to send them back to him and have him send you a brand new shaft and allow him to try and sell the shafts separately. If this isn't a possiblity because the joints have unique inlays, etc. and you can't get the seller to pay for in full the cost of a new replacement shaft, then see if you can negotiate with him and split the cost. If you are already thinking about paying for a new shaft out of your own pocket, then cutting that cost in half would be a great option and the seller would be much more responsive to splitting that cost. If he refuses to do anything for you, I really believe you should be angry and you should be informing this community of a bad seller and a bad experience so other people don't get screwed on a big purchase like this.

I remember Nubs Wagner telling me about a camatillo cue he built years ago for a gentleman in Asia. The cue was perfectly straight when it was shipped. Shortly there after it warped severely. Nubs refunded the buyer the money and stored the cue away. He told me he pulled the cue out many years later and it was straight as an arrow.
