Would you call this great condition?

I didn’t ask for $175.

I asked him to cover the cost of repair and no more than 100. Philippi will charge $170 to repair it. I was going to pay the difference and make the trip to get it fixed.

Was PHILLIPPI going to charge $175 to refinish the butt sleeve or was that to refinish the entire cue and you wanted the seller to cover a hundred?

Based on the pics I saw after searching EBAY the rest of the cue is in GREAT shape and needs NOTHING

Post of the year in my book

more like the in-experienced exposing on how things would be in utopia

again, with the smudge, rough bimp up in the photo it's obvious the seller wasn't zooming anyone

$175 to refinish a butt sleeve on the other hand...sad

I always would cover shipping if I listed an item incorrectly, the customer shouldn't have to pay out of pocket because I messed up.

That's what the seller did, but, the buyer wanted a lot more and threatened to use the bad feedback bomb to achieve his goal...sad

I don't know if you get to brag about all your years of experience selling cues if you can't check the condition before listing it as "great", seems like a rookie mistake, but carry on.
I dont know if you get a vote for post of the year you have only been a member of az two months. lol

If the refund had been granted and the cue put back up for auction without disclosure of the blemish, it would be much more clear cut as a deliberate deception.

I've missed small things when selling something, and a thumb sized-blemish might have escaped notice. Hell, it might also simply knock a cue down from "like new" to "great".

A full refund sorta negates the claim of shady practices, though. If you can get out of the deal without any injury but a small amount of time, you haven't been wronged, IMO.

The OP doesn't say much about his threatening the seller with neg feedback if he doesn't meet his demands. That my friends is extortion. That is why eBay removed his neg feedback. It is against eBay rules to threaten the seller using neg feedback as a weapon. This guy is a scammer! Period!

But you can't say the buyer has no grounds to be disappointed with the choice imposed upon him by the seller?

That picture shows an imperfection that is arguably impossible to miss...especially when selling via flea-bay.

As someone said earlier: the hand of God hath brought them together.

I have said it befor on here: phillippi is possibly the most underrated cue brand out there. Strong cuemakers in md and Rick is good people.

Man, I love this thread. What a good thread. I read every post. Some more then once. Just to reaffirm my decision to never, ever, buy anything, from anyone, on here. Anytime I see something on the for sale section, that tempts, I will revisit this thread. What total BS

I will 1 better you: I will NEVER buy a cue I can't touch first. From anywhere.

Depending on how much you are willing to pay me, I could call it not too hot forthe same money

How much are you paying?

Playing devil's advocate. If I sell you a Southwest knock off cue saying it is an authentic SW and you find out it's not. I offer to refund all money plus shipping. Do I cease to be shady in this scenario because I offered a refund ?

Potentially. If you knew it was a knockoff, you're shady whether you offer the refund or not.

If you are informed and shown that it is a knockoff, refund the purchase price, then re-list it to pass to someone else who is unsuspecting, without informing them otherwise, then still shady.

If you genuinely don't know it's a knockoff, sell to someone who sees the problem, and then refund that cost and re-list it as what it is, then no. You have made an error and are correcting it.

Guys, it's Justin, under another name. Look at the writing style.

Maybe, but I kinda da doubt it. Op said he was gonna take ( not ship ) directly to Phillippi. As you know, Bowie is just a 20-30 ride to Phillippi's shop and isn't Justin in NC or something?

Spoken like a member for six months.

And the deal was not made here. It was made on Ebay.

So do you know the Ebay names of all the members here?

Do you know their Facebook names?

Some of the members here own retail shops as well. Do you know their various names on different social networking and on Ebay?

Some of the dealers here are among the most prominent dealers in the industry. You are cutting yourself out on them?

Where are you going to buy anything?

Arguably. Key point.

Disappointment met with an offer of refund with shipping.

I can't argue with anybody being disappointed with any purchase for any reason. So what? Complete remedy is offered...disappointment at that point is pointless when that offer is refused.
