WPA Threatens Sanctions (Hanoi Open)

They did pay out 1,125,000 dollars, even if it wasn't the correct total, it was way more than anyone else ever paid out, heck there were some tournaments ,where nothing was ever paid out. I don't know all the details and I don't really give a shit, my point was , every time someone takes charge , the first thing they want to do is have a monopoly and that doesn't seem to work in pool, so ,until they figure that out, there probably won't be anything lasting accomplished.

except for that one tiny issue and that was Trudeau being a complete outlaw fraud artist.
Trudeau's dishonesty, which is undeniable, is not the reason the IPT failed. The real problem was that, through enormous prize funds, the IPT put costs at a level that revenues could not possibly cover. Predictably, this became obvious during its very first season and Trudeau, quite logically, folded the operation.

WPA has been carrying pool for awhile, I view it like one step back can help many more take the step forward into pool.

At least now the stigma is pool players want to play more pool outside of sanctioned events and there are not enough pros for those events.

The clear plan is play in unsanctioned events for players that can't afford the Matchroom schedule, then make the jump if they are ready.

It helps having major tournaments that are not sanctioned for the semi pros or players that can't commit as much time as they would like to pool.

The curious question is how come the WPA never went after the IPT players. There is clear politics at play.

Any news for pool lately has been about global expansion and the issues common to Americans is not common outside of America.

The right to choose is 100 years old, most Euro and Asian countries only have the right to serve.

I view this as a way for the WPA to say people can organize outside of the WPA but don't expect any help from WPA players at events.

In some Asian countries non government organization and small assemblies are heavily monitored. The same countries that never experienced civil rights, freedom from slavery or women's rights.

The PGA tried something like this last year.
Apparently it went over "so well" that WPA decided to follow into the rabbit hole.

PGA Tour has had a players board for years. Overall its worked pretty well. Nothing dealing with pro egos, in ANY sport, is going to go like clockwork. Pro pool players have shot themselves in the foot too many times to count.

and ALL his revenue came from pure out-n-out fraud. IPT was doomed before it started. Poolplayers got royally scammed.

yes i remember. they screwed it up. what they needed was a good manager to run the organization and have players that were dedicated to it.

i think nowadays the players are more tournament oriented and would go for it.

Anyone remember Don Mackey?

don mackey tried to put on a pro tour.

i dont think his role was to organize the players so they had a strong voice in negotiating with others that were putting on major tournaments.
the players are not capable in business to be doing tournaments themselves or even with help.

IMO, Pool players are loan wolfs. They don't want to be part of any organization, including WPA, IPT, MR, etc. Come and go as they/we please.

I don't think a player's group is needed, or wanted, or could ever succeed if it was re-started for the 100'th time.

Until (if ever) we know the full background behind what's going on between WPA and MR, we can not make any decent calls.

I would say, now, as long as WPA has seen (as if they did not before, when MR ran the World in Cardiff for several years) how the production is supposed to be done, this and that - it could be right time to say thank you and good bye to the British promoters. After all, the WPA has got some other rich people that could be involved, be it Qatar, Dubai (UAE) or whatever.
...Oh wait, the only and the biggest problem is they sold the WPC to Matchroom (if memory serves me, forever, according to the signed contract).

On FB Wiktor is dropping his Polish National team status.
