wpba on pay per veiw

For good? Did their tv deal fall through? Because otherwise, this seems like an absolutely awful decision. The ppv market these days is awfully slim, with a few exceptions. I really don't think that the wpba is capable of bucking that trend. Hope I am wrong if that is the case.

Received from the WPBA today

Looks like it's going to show featured matches from the first two days of the event. Right now, only the the last few matches are televised.

They are not on PPV instead of TV. They are on PPV in addition to TV. PPV the first 2 days and I would imagine the same matches on TV as usual.

the wpba will be going on pay per veiw instead of national tv thanks:)
So, Travis Trotter....makes me wonder, are you really a girl? You're thread was posted very shortly after I received my notification from the WPBA for players. Interesting coincidence unless you have nothing to do but hang out at the WPBA website all day...

hey blueridge - I took that photo in your avatar.

I'll love that photo. It looks like classic Earl on one of his rants.

I wonder what Earl was ranting about there. Was he talking about how pool is harder than golf?

I think we'll have opportunity to watch the earlier matches on PPV along with televised matches on ESPN ... according to my source. I like the idea as one gets an opportunity to check out other WPBA players.

That sounds like a pretty good idea, and might be worth paying for. Will the PPV matches be live? Will they be unedited? Will they have good commentatary, or will they have Mitch Lawrence?

I got this same email just a bit ago, too. From reading some of the comments above, I'm not sure everyone understands this isn't PPV as in TV. This is PPV on the web.

WPBA PAY-PER-VIEW WEB CASTING

Since this will be broadcast live, I don't see a lot of time for a lot of editing. I'm looking forward to seeing how this works out for them. I will consider putting up $30 for the 2 days. However, the players I like to follow on the WPBA are much lower in the rankings, so I hope this PPV will give some of those women a little more exposure and not just concentrate on the higher ranked players. I can see them on TV anytime.

I'm glad the WPBA is going to PPV. I for one will support it. For $30 we can show support for the WPBA and TAR, plus see some great pool and see players we wouldn't see unless we were at the venue or they made the TV rounds. Johnnyt

TAR is doing the broadcasts?

Yes we are doing them.

It was supposed to be announced a little smoother than this but we are partnering with WPBA to stream the matches before the TV rounds.

We will be streaming 14 matches over the first two days.

I will post all the info here today.

Will we know who will be playing the scheduled matches ahead of time? Will we be able to live chat at the same time (love that feature in ustream!). Whose doing this for them? Someone with experience, I hope. Maybe I'm asking too much, but on the other hand, I think their price is too high. JMO - I'll most likely buy at least one day's worth for their first run.

Edit: okay, if TAR is doing it then we can count on quality. Is it possible to save a copy of the stream or do you have to buy the DVD later?
