Lac got another win (this time over Susan Williams, 9-3). She plays Julie Kelly for a spot in the final 16. I would love to see her get there and play maybe Allison or Karen.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone:D . Johnnyt

Well, I would like to see a different winner than "the usual suspects," so I would hope Lac would win that match.

I'd like to see X Pan, Anna, or Luc win it. I like Allisons game, but would like see somemore young blood at the top. That would be good too. Johnnyt

Kelly Fisher is on fire and in the loosers bracket she did not take much time to dismiss Dawn Hopkins and her next match will be at 5:30 pm.

Believe me Jasmin plays as good as anybody on the WPBA. Johnnyt

Maybe some day but not now IMHO. Sure she beat Alli a while back but that doesn't mean she's "as good as" her.

Make no mistake...I am a fan of Jasmine's but I think she needs more seasoning and possible less globe hopping. It takes almost super-human body chemistry to be able to perform at peak levels while fighting jet lag.

Jim

Lac bt J Kelly 9-8 to make the redraw for last 16

That was a great match you had with Holly Sholes last night. You showed great heart. Kelly was twisting and turning on the sidelines rooting for you.

I had to leave Alpine, CA this morning because I started feeling under the weather while watching the 2:45pm session yesterday.

I would have enjoyed watching Anna Kostanian and My Hahn Lac duke it out. After the way she played yesterday I'm surprised Michelle Rakin didn't make it through to the final 16. Congrats to Eleanor Collado for making it into the sweet 16. She's a sweet gal with rock steady nerves under pressure.

Miyuki Sakai showed great killer instinct when she got big leads against Liz Ford and Angel Paglia. Heather Lloyd, Holly Sholes and Susan Williams really impressed me with their all-around game.

After being down 6-0, Jeanette Lee fought back to 8-8 against My Hahn Lac before missing a thin cut on the 9 that cost her the match.

The Sueyen Rhee and Alice Rim match was entertaining. When each was on the table they had murder in their eyes, but between racks they were laughing together like they were out having lunch. When Sueyen bent down to sink the final 9 ball, she had to call time because a bug landed right in front of it. After she flicked the bug away, everyone in the crowd laughed, then she cooly ended the match.

Hi there! This is Anne Craig with the WPBA and I'm actually the person doing the bracket updates, and writing the highlights etc. I also wrote the summaries for azbilliards. Please understand I write these summaries at 2:00am and frankly after a 17 hour day, I'm a little punchy at that point so if I miss things, I apologize for that :) If you go to wpba.com, I do mentioned quite loudly that My-Hanh defeated both Jeanette & Jasmin and do my best to keep all of you up to date throughout the day. I update the highlights at least 2 to 3 times a day and the brackets will always be updated per round. Thanks to everyone for your support of the WPBA and of billiards!

Anne

Hi Anne. You can't make everyone happy - don't even sweat it! If you would have had My-Hahn all over the place, they would have wondered why there was not a picture of Anna. You are doing a great job on the updates - kudos!

Lac actually played Karen Corr at one of the JPNEWT events last year I think - I can't remember the score.

Hi Anne,
Sorry for the criticism. My-Hanh is a good friend and I play with her often. I'm so glad to see her breaking through. Please keep updating and ignore jerks like me :)

My-Hahn Lac from D.C. I was told is 22 years old and I saw her drinking a beer for she looks younger. Her wins against Lee and Jasmin are well recorded here and was awe inspiring to watch as they developed. Her race to 9 against Julie Kelly was one of the best that I have ever witnessed (I'm a nobody) but even Steve Tipton remarked that we didn't pay enough to witness such a battle.

I believe that J. Kelly was on the hill and Lac was down 3 games at 5. I was resigned to think that she was meeting her match in a rested Kelly who was playing very well. They were playing very good safeties and getting out of them, but Lac was hooked and had to go 2 rails to get to the object ball - she hit it just right and it hit a couple of other balls and the 9 wnet into the corner pocket - win. The crowd started to pay attention and ESPN who was recording Lac had already left, after recording Lac's break and run ealier.

Again, at hill 7, Lac was hooked by J. Kelly and had to go 2 rails to hit the object ball and wham several balls go into motion and the 9 caroms off the 8 and drops int the corner pocket - the crowd goes crazy and J. Kelly is crushed. The final game left Lac with a carom off of the 6 to the 9 that she missed leaving Kelly with a thin cut on the 6 to go up table to get shape on the 8, but as plannned the cue ball goes down the table but it hits the 8 and scratches leaving Lac ball in hand - J. Kelly was beaten by circumstances and conceeded the 8 and 9 - giving Lac the sweet 16.

I am home now cause I don't like to watch the final reruns on the WPBA with the same cast of characters, but with Lac, Collado, Pao and Anna; there could be a different finish.

The path to success in pool is costly and many young guns have dropped out with new ones to take their place for awhile - untill they too hit the the money wall.

Of course you are correct again. Thanks.

I look forward to your observation, description and critique of the Lac Kelly match - did you enjoy it?

Final 8.

A. Fisher v Thornfeldt

Kostanian v. Corr

K. Fisher v. Hofstatter

Ellerby v. GYK

My money would have to be on either, Allison Fisher, or Ga Young Kim.
