WTB/ Philippine cue...........who makes the best? I have heard many do not cure wood properly. Who are the best makers?

I have owned cues from 2 makers from the Phillipines. I would steer away from Audricks. His craftsmanship and playability of his cues are subpar. They are pretty from a distance though but for the value, I guess you get what you pay for. Patrick Navarro makes a good cue. From hit to craftsmanship, everything is top notch. I have 4 shafts from him that are all dead straight. He claims his shafts are imported canadian maple I believe. Hope that helps a little
I recently bought a JD cue (Joel Divadas), amboyna burl and ebony. Really nice cue. I haven't really had it long enough to see if the shaft is going to warp. It is straight as an arrow now. The only thing I didn't like was the tip. I took it and put a wizard M on it and it shoots lights out. I got a really good price on it, as I bid on it right after Christmas. Shipping is $50 though.

I agree with the sentiment that Audrick cues are not too great. I do have a cue made by Gracie cues, a guy named Jonathan Torrero made it .Great fit and finish,dead straight after 4 years. Plays ok. It had alot of ivory in it . He sent it to me covered in black water based paint. Took it off with alcohol and underneath was a beautiful cue. I have bought 2 cues from this guy and can't complain.Hope this helps..Chuck

I second that Chuck. I've also had a Gracie cue. Beautiful fit and finish,
but the hit was much to be desired. I did put on a sniper tip, and it hit
much better, but still not awesome. The shafts did warp a bit though.
The tip did not leave the table when rolling, but you could see it wobble
a bit.
I have a Viattorre cue I'd be willing to sell if you are interested. A Filipino maker that is tough to find since they closed up shop. This is one of the last made. Ivory inlays and snakewood. Beautiful veneers and point work. It has an original shaft (ferrule has been replaced though) and a 314-2 that was made custom with matching ringwork.

I have this Vhante cue that I bought a few months back from a guy who had owned it for 4-5 years. He's in Michigan or Chicago and I'm in Florida so there has definately been some climate changes. Its a SUPER cue looks superb ( well I think) it has flamed veneers that are bridged and amboyna also. No wobble or warp and shoots GREAT. I would buy another if I liked the looks.

I too own a Viattorre, great cue.Ive been told by one of the most respected CMs that the shafts are really good with a good taper.

I have bought probably 12 or 13 of Joel's cues and had him build me 7 custom cues.With that many being said I've only had one problem with one of the earlier cues butts,had a little roll to it after about 8 months.

i had a ronnie powell (maker of queperfect cues) that came from the pi that stayed straight for years. i sold it back to ronnie to take care of a couple of bills but it was dead nuts straight for all the years i had it.
i forgot to mention that i had a linds. the cue was extremely well made and had been in the states for years and it rolled perfectly straight and played amazing.
i ran into a Filipino road player ('ish) that had a viattorre. it was probably the nicest cue i've ever hit a ball with. it had an ivory joint and played fantastic. i've always wanted a viattorre but nobody's selling 'em (another testament to how well they play)

poolplayer recommended that i support az'ers, So i bought a Bebot cue.
to make a longer post shorter, I got the cue from the general. He's a gentleman to deal with.
The cue is sick. Nice finish. great balance. crisp hit. Get lots of compliments on it too.

the Philippines is home to many great cuemakers. choosing the best there is might be a bit subjective as one player's definition of "best" might differ from another as every individual has his unique preference in terms of aesthethics, hit, craftsmanship, construction methods and other factors like business practices as well. best is you determine what 'drives' you in a cue and look for a cue that fits your own preference the closest. that way, you will surely feel that you got the best value for your money since you will be truly satisfied according to your liking. we have always believed that a custom cue is supposed to be tailor-made for you, for the very reason it is called a "custom" cue. regardless of whoever cuemaker you choose, the most important thing is for you to be happy with your purchase, and be able to play with your cue comfortably for a long time. just for even considering to get a custom cue from anyone of our countrymen, already makes us feel honored and glad, being a Filipino.
