Yang Vs Shane

Two players winning alot lately. If they were to match up in 9ball, winner breaks, race to a hundred who wins and by how much?

In my opinion Shane's break would give him the edge.

A Coin toss????

I really don't know. Anything between Yang, Orcullo, and Shane VB would truly be gambling. Like Scott Lee said, which day it was could be the difference. I think in 9 ball, Yang and Orcullo have a slight edge because of experience, not more than 10 games though.

In 10 ball, I like Shane over both Yang and Orcullo.

Shane will beat EVERYBODY in Ten Ball in the next two years, including Yang, Dang, Sang and Fang!

At USA, probably Shane, at far east Asia, definitely Yang.

The score would be something like in USA; SVB 100 - Yang 91

At far east Asıa; Yang 100 - SVB 63.

Depends much about the preparation of course. Yang is the best 9'baller in the World IMHO, but already bcos of language problems, doesn't like to travel to USA, and his level definitely drops when he's far from home..

But!!!

If played in two days like it was at Sioux Falls, then I'd probably go with Shane anyway.
If played race to 10-20/day (which probably is not the case now), definitely for Yang then.
When Dennis and Yang played race to 60 9'ball in two days, Yang said he never play as much per day and he was totally exhausted. (still he won easily though). He's more like a match player maximum race to app. 21, than long distance runner with ahead sets. Filipinos has much more stamina than Taiwanese, but in short races without chances for errors, they are the best in the World, and Chao living proof in that with his nearly perfect wins twice at WPC finals..

And Yang's break at 9 ball is probably the best in the World..

At race to 100, 10-ball match I'd match Shane against filipinos (in this order): Orcullo/Efren, Manalo, Alcano, Alex, Busty, Van Van... as I haven't heard Taiwanese concentrate on that game. It mıght not be too difficult for them though to adjust.. Van Van's speed might be a bit higher at the moment, about Alex's and Manalo's current speen I don't know, this is a hunch from last couple of year's. Efren's break in 10-ball might fail him though, but then again he won 500 000$ at Reno playing 8-ball for a week...

I have the opposite opinion. Yang's break will give him the edge in 9 ball. I'd give the nod to Yang. Look at how he dismantled Orcullo in a raise to 60.

As for 10 ball, I'd probably give it to Shane based on experience playing the game. The real match up would be Shane and Orcullo (or Efren or Busty or Alex or Alcano or Manalo) playing 10 ball.

Yang has the patience of Buddha. :D
The longer the match the better he gets.

Just what I was thinking. It would really depend on whether it was 10-ball or 9-ball.

FYI, 10-Ball is the game of choice in the Philippines for a long time now on money matches.

You forgot Tang! :D

When Tang was playing his best pool, watching him and Shane play 10B would be great, wow. Tang is super tough he finds a way to win, Shane plays Great, that would have been a better match than Cory was thats for sure, I like both guys alot so I wouldnt have any action, I wish Tang was in top form. I know he would get more than 70 today if they played-he knows how to win.

I wonder if Ace saw the AC1? I did and I can't imagine someone playing at a significantly higher level than what SVB maintained for those 2 days. If he saw the AC1 and he still thinks Yang can "rip shane apart"...that Yang must be...ummm, he must be...God, I can't even think of a superlative for how great he must be!

EDIT: I decided to sit & watch the Yang/Orcollo match. Here are the links for anyone else that wants to do the same.

if shane can beat everyone in 9 ball......why doesnt he play corey 9 ball?

Somehow I think 10-ball was Corey's edge in the match. You guys don't think Shane can break a 9-ball rack?? 10-ball is supposed to tame the mighty break but it obviously didn't work.

I got some info from a good source that Shane probably wouldn't play Yang even. It would be a great match, but there are still a few guys that Shane wouldn't play even.
