So is it Wang Can or Can Wang??? Regardless, this young man has had one hell of a tourney.... He has just beat SVB 10-2 then Alex 10-4 to get into hot seat match vs Mika.... This kid has dominated his first six opponents by a combined score of 60-22... Been done before right??? How about in alt break format??? Never have I seen so many lopsided scores in this type of format... How about luck of the draw??? He has sent the likes of Hundal, Shaw, SVB and Alex over to the B side... Pretty strong folks, pretty strong....

So we're down to 6 now and here's a short recap on how they got there.... Just thought I'd post this since we didn't get an update thread going this time around...

Wang's route

10-2 over Lacey, 10-4 over Hundal, 10-6 over Shaw, 10-4 over Bergman, 10-2 over SVB, 10-4 over Alex

Mika (my pick) beats Daz 10-7 in a flaw filled grinder to get into A side final....

Mika's route

1st rd bye, 10-6 over Pinegar, 10-2 over Ernesto, 10-6 over Nikos (the greek), 10-4 over Dechaine, 10-8 over Daz

Biado sends Dechaine packing 10--8 after trailing 8-5 (possibly 8-4)

Biado's Way

Carlo has been gaining some steam in B side by dispatching one champion after another.... His tourney started with a bye, 10-8 over Saez, 10-7 over Bustamante, Lost hil-hill vs SVB, B side 10-1 over Oscar, 10-2 over Ralf, 10-8 over Hohmann, 10-8 over Dechaine....

Niels knocks SVB out in a hill-hill thrilla that none of us got to see the final of since the cameras were shut off immediately after mika/daz match...

Niels route

1st rd bye, 10-5 over Richie Rich, hill-hill over Orcullo, 10-8 over Bartrum, loses hill-hill to Alex, B side 10-2 over Archer, hill-hill over SVB

Final 6 are set for thursday

Hot Seat

Mika
Wang

B sides

Alex
Biado

Daz
Niels

Smooth Criminal

Just want to add in Chris Bartrum's strong run (13-16th finish I think) since I don't see it posted anywhere on az...

10-8 over Harriman, 10-6 over Shuff, 10-4 over Moore, loses 10-8 to Niels, B side 10-8 over Lee Vann, knocked out 10-7 by Ouschan...

Congrats on a strong showing chris.....

Wang Can didn't just run down there and horse@#$% SVB, he WALKED down there and horse@#$%ed them all! I love how folks are trying to downplay this performance...at 19 coming out of nowhere, to do this isn't just a good day; this field of players is unbelievable. To do what he just did is reminiscent of Ceasar Morales. Just sayin'.

Wang CAN play...

Hes the one that put me in the losers at the Johnny Archer classic second chance. I played good but made like one or two mistakes and that was all it took. The kid can definitely play...

I think we should correct the pronunciation of the name of this Chinese kid. He should be called Tsan Wang. His last name is Wang and first name should be called tsan instead of kan.

I can't remember any of the Chinese players' names...but I'll remember this one.:)

Wang's been around the Mainland Chinese pool scene for a couple years.
I frequent a pool hall opened under his name in Shanghai presumably by his well-off parents. The place wasn't doing well and was sold off.

I often see him at the place playing with some of the regulars or practicing by himself. He doesn't really interact with other people much so I've never spoken to him. When he's not at his own room, he's at the bigger action rooms.

He's a very strong player, but I think most people in China would be quite surprised by his performance.

Thanks for the excellent update. Wow! This kid will be the one to watch!

Most of the top players he beat just sat in the chair like they were in shock. I believe that's called "Freezing them in their chair". LOL. Johnnyt

If I may, I'll just quote my post from the live stream thread.

Wang Can has been incredible, but DO NOT FORGET about Carlo Biado. He has also played exceptionally well.

What a great day of pool streaming. Every match might be a nail-biter!!!

I'll be on the chat, for sure. See you there.

Enjoy!!

Carlo Biado was one of the PI's 20 best kept secrets for a long time before they started streaming from Star Billiard Center and having those streamed match ups from that casino in the PI. I think he would be a big draw playing Shane on TAR...race to 100 10 ball. IMO it would be even, and yes I'd take Carlo even for a few marbles. Johnnyt

If it happens, just let me know how many marbles - I'd be willing to put up a lot of them.

Thanks much for updates. Couldn't watch it yesterday. Also good to see Mika playing well again.

Thanks for the info. I figured so, Can isn't a "proper" Chinese name. I just call him Wang.

Wang can rock!

He just created his new fan club t-shirts $19.99 a piece....
