Your opinions... A year later

Over a year has passed since the last IPT event. I was just wondering what most of you believe will happen with the IPT - will it revive itself - or - will it just drift away into obscurity?

It is no secret about how I feel about this subject, so I will keep my opinion out of it, I was just wondering how people currently view this venture a year later. Have your views changed, or are they still the same?

For the IPT Players - what do you think we could all learn from this situation when building a new tour?

If the question is directed to non IPT participants then i'm sure most will say it will just drift away.

If we're talking about the IPT hopefuls then most will not want to commit in saying that you were right all along and say it will drift away. I think the next couple of months will decide the issue for me. Seems like every few months they put out some little tidbit of info to lead us to believe that there is still a glimmer of hope. The next two months will tell the tell.

That's a tough call. Every time I see his lips moving I see lies and broken promises. After hearing about so many people having problems with billing and other issues with his miracle products it only supports his ways. If the money is guaranteed, I see allot jumping on the bandwagon, once the payouts and the venues pan out there will be more showing up, but there will be a few and possibly many that will never want to be associate with the KT image he's so profoundly shown us. Many years ago Bobby Hunter walked away from Don Mackey because of his principals, how many will walk away from the KT cash bait, ONLY THOSE WITH A SIMILAR CHARACTER.

My opinion is that the IPT will not come back, not even a smaller effort. KT could have handled this so much better for the players and himself, but you can't expect too much from a snake oil salesman.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in this topic. I'm assuming many people are either keeping their opinions to themselves, or they don't care anymore.

I would hate to say it,but I think it's the latter.

I think if the topic was "what we want to happen" there would be allot more response. Everyone here I think supported the IPT in some fashion and is a bit disappointed today. As much as I would love to see the IPT live again(or something like it) I would be afraid to guess on an outcome. I stayed in denial for at least 6 months, before I gave up on the IPT. What the future will bring is hard to predict, regardless of our level of support.

>>>on the fence

If the whole industry hadn't turned against him, legal regulations of online gambling hadn't changed and the Ho deal had went through than none of this would have happened.

It was the pressure from the industry that caused the legal changes impacting the IPT business model. And pressure from the media exposure that contributed to the postponement of IPT events.

If the players had only remained silent and kept some faith in the IPT by providing whatever support was asked than the IPT would have been still operating and not hiding in a desk drawer pending legal arbitration.

I mean the evidence was clear the IPT paid out and then on one occasion payment is not immediate. Its really unfair to the IPT. Everybody was loving KT until he didn't pay. Im not calling anyone names but that drastic change from support to no support implies hideous consequences.

Sorry justnum but am sure I'm not the only one who isn't sure exactly what you mean by the above highlighted portion.

Please explain a little clearer what nature of pressure emanating from which industry (i.e. the pool industry or the online betting industry or some other industry?) you think "caused the legal changes" which impacted the business model.

The Law Of Attraction

Forget Trudeau. We all know him and his history by now..........

The IPT raised awareness of Pool beyond anything in recent memory.

The money that was paid out to pool players was the biggest injection of cash to pool players in recent memory. (did any make it back to the pool $$pie)

Those are two large gifts from the game (not Trudeau) that Pool Players failed to capitalize on.

There are a lot of Great Players who understand that giving back to the game helps it grow and they practice what they preach.
Unfortunately they are the minority.

The majority of players walk around with an attitude of entitlement. You know the ones who feel they are god's gift to the game. They do more damage then a Trudeau, because they work at it everyday!!!

When Pool Players clean up their own acts and start promoting the game properly, the people with real money and better resumes will begin to show up.

The Law Of Attraction works in the Pool World to!

It was KT who guranteed money out of his pocket in the event something like this happens.

And so far he is delivering slowly, but he is.

And it does not meet the expectations of the industry however everyone stop supporting him.

Ididn't get that involved with the IPT. I played in one qualifier and ran 3 more of them. I hated the pain and heart break it casued some, just too many shattered dreams.

I believe he entertained himself with it and then dodged the legal bullit. he will just drift away and look for another target. People like KT believethat any and everyone are fair game and should be scewed at any oppritunity.

He is, IMO, a class one POS. I hope he has gone away and stays away.

He forgot the checkbook, the checks are in the mail, and as Ho replied, " what is IPT"?

I believe KT was sold a pretty good "bill of goods" to begin with and never really had a chance, but it was his lies and plans which pulled the rug out from underneath everyone

My thoughts are that we will never see another IPT event. That is, unless KT has some monsterous success on a "latest book deal" or some other endeavor....where he might need to book a big loss for tax purposes. :(

Regardless of some of the ill feeling I think it was an excellent idea and a success to some extent. The promotion probably needed to be increased as well as support from outside the industry.

What this industry needs is a Tiger Woods of the pool world. Most people outside of our sport have no idea who is who. I would venture to say that even inside out sport there are many who have no idea who the main players are.

How many regular players do we have in our sport. By regular I mean someone who plays at least once per week and is at least halfway serious about the game of pool.

Out of all of these players how many would be willing to chip in $5.00 per month in order to have two big tournaments that would pay out $500,000.00 or more per tournament with $250,000 to the HOA player?

has it only been a year ? SEEMS like an eternity !

unfortunately, some room owners in the USA and in Europe are still holding IPT qualifying events ! seems KT's snake oil spilled over to some dishonest room owners looking to make some bucks on their own and pass the buck/blame when they finally get confronted.

A guy that I shoot with is still convinced another qualifier will happen "soon". Some people will believe anything. :(
