* Your Pro Pool Clinic with Tom Kennedy, Matt Sherman *

Of course everyone is free to draw the line where they want as far as how good their instructor should play, or could play at some point. I personally wouldn't pay for lessons from anyone under the 600 level (maybe higher) as the game is still too unscientific for my liking. We are quite a ways behind golf in this regard, so many parts of the game and stroke still need to be experienced to fully understand them. Plus there are just too many instructors to pick from that can actually play the game at a high level. So I'll throw in one more plug for The Tin Man as he would be at the top of my list. His focus isn't on fundamentals though.

WobblyStroke's experience and rating makes sense to me, and I think someone that looks at the game with his perspective would make a good instructor.

Considering other instructors, there are several disqualifiers for me. Not being totally honest is one of them. You have to trust your instructor or what's the point?

BA - says he "probably" plays around 600 speed, then later states he doesn't even know what a 600 rating means. 🙄
No.

I went to Dr. Dave's table to translate Fargo ratings, some say 600 is B, some say AA.

I still don't have a Fargo rating since I posted half an hour ago, so I'm guessing 600.

If you want, I can guess your level of reading comprehension, "you read around 3rd grade speed".

Sparkle was your reading instructor.

Yes Kinister is fantastic. There is always some subjective preference coloring an opinion like this, but he is the best I've seen overall. Not to say I've seen em all. But other than his wealth of solid info, he conveys it in simple ways and some of his phrasing for describing the same things everyone else describes is just more elegant. Great instructor.
The Bert-inator is awesome.

But personally, I hate drills, so I devised "cheats" and "shortcuts".

Have you ever noticed that when somebody who doesn't have a Fargo rating says something like "if I did, I'd be somewhere around XXX", that XXX number is never 435. 😁
Okay, Fargo rating is possibly 435. Also, possibly Pi to 12 digits. Also, I've never played pool.

Or have seen a James Bond film.

Nor can I sing.

The dichotomy of player skill and teacher skill is addressed in the mission statement of the Harriman Cuesports Academy.

The next generation of the pool community will be more savvy than players of yesteryear.

Teaching players the fundamentals of proper cue techniques and proper instructional techniques is what HCA does.

I think you forget that we've seen videos of you hitting pool balls…

😂

Dude! You were in the thread a week ago, where my James Bond associations were questioned:

Here's the link for the panels I co-chair for Bond in November. My co-chair is the Chair of Florida Atlantic University's English Department, Dr. Oliver Buckton, author and expert: https://samla.memberclicks.net/callsforpapers#englishstudies

Here's the link to the James Bond Studies Conference in London this month, where I'll lead the Walking Tour and host a screening of Casino Royale, I can also provide a brochure with the briefing for my lecture on Ian Fleming/James Bond: https://estore.roehampton.ac.uk/con...dies-conference/james-bond-studies-conference

And you're questioning whether when I say I teach vocal music if I know how to sing? Really?

Really?

. . .

Really?
Yep really. You can say it a few more times if you'd like. So here's what we now know:

You're a pool instructor.
A pool player.
A golf instructor. Not sure if you play that game.
A singer

and ...

A voice coach.

But there's no known videos of you doing any of the above minus your infamous power breaking video.

Ladies and Gentlemen -- welcome to the year of our Lord 1983, where we haven't quite figured out how to post videos.

For someone that admittedly loves the shameless plug, you sure do avoid plugging your videos.

Welcome to my trap, Mister Bond. You were warned.

PS. How come your list doesn't include that I'm a phony about James Bond?

While I don't know for certain, I expect that the ownership of this site is simply tired of the nonstop chaos that is the Aiming Section, especially anything revolving around CTE.
I'm sure they were/are. They also put specific rules up to counter it which had to do with NO BASHING of ANY aiming system.
It was BASHED every single day. As long as it was BASHED, why weren't those who knew how to use it allowed to DEFEND IT? Why were those who didn't know how to use it be allowed to BASH all they wanted?
NO BASHING = NO DEFENDING = NO ARGUMENTS = PEACE. No one was trying to jam it down their throats to use.
You guys have been at each other virtually nonstop for decades in some cases. (Here and elsewhere) I expect that its simply not worth the aggravation for them any longer.
Yes. It started in '96 or '97 on RSB. As soon as it was posted by Hal Houle, it was attacked by a certain member and never stopped. It carried over to another forum and then here. Here's my question, why were the BASHERS that broke the rules, allowed to continue on the aiming forum and the people who knew the system, got trained in person with the creators, get
BANNED from the aiming forum? Where is your head and thinking on this? Where are you coming from? An anti-CTE guy?
We aren't pushing it down anyone's throat. I could give a crap what someone wants to use. Just don't bash what isn't known.
There are instances here on the Main Forum where those rules get broken regularly, just not to the spectacular extent of the Aiming Forum. The Harriman stuff has gotten rather silly over the years, as one example.

I bet they never figured on having to be a playground monitor when they set up the site initially. It is never ending.
It happens on just about every forum regardless of the subject matter. There are disagreements, blowouts, sides taken, and bans. I've seen it happen a number of times on some gun forums where I've been a member for many years.
Just my guess as an observer outside of the general conflict.
You certainly don't seem to be outside of the general conflict as involved as you are in this thread and where you seem to be coming from. Be honest, do you know anything at all about how the CB and OB are visually linked with the method just like
ALL other methods. Even with those who say "I aim by feel". Fine! But there's still a VISUAL image of the two balls linked to make one go to the pocket. And guess what? The edge of the CB and center of the CB is somewhere directly on the OB simultaneously as visible as can be seen for ALL aiming methods and ALL SHOTS. No ghosts, guessing, or imagination. It's the final picture for ALL aiming methods reverse engineered but used by itself first in CTE. Does this make sense to you?
Hell, I won't be surprised if I get a warning or flat out banned from everything just for telling it like it is.
CTE and anti-CTE might be as bad or worse than Liberals and Conservatives and what they stand for.

I've been participating on this forum for 14 years now. I've watched many of the various Aiming Wars. Yes, I am outside the issue, honestly. I haven't tried "that system", and the only reason for that is because I do not have the time to apply myself to learning it (or any other new system) properly. I have no preconceived notions regarding its validity. If I were to have plenty of uninterrupted time, and a table at home, I expect that I'd like to mess around with it and see if it suits me. That, and many other techniques in the pool world. I'm not gonna jump into something and not give it the time it deserves to properly try and grasp the concepts.

So yes, that means I'm outside the conflict. I read the threads because I try to learn things, and some times the back and forth is amusing.

Not interested in the Bond stuff.

Singing, music, and pool interest me. Would be interested in hearing you sing that's all, but I'm almost certain your singing is under wraps due to strict contract stipulations.

Nah, you lie constantly, and called me a liar about James Bond, too, but got slapped. Anyone who goes up just a couple of posts can see (and feel) the slapping.

So here's my singing video:

I have zero games in Fargo. I have a starter rating of 525. If I had Fargo tournaments under my belt, I’d probably be about 316. That’s probably an overestimate with how bad I play today (and yesterday).

That was creative and humorous, and the singing was pretty good. Nice big open vowels. Nice job! Thanks for sharing.

I definitely agree about needing to be proficient in what you teach. I will say that I paid for lessons from Scott Lee and they were very helpful. I don't think he could beat me playing pool though.
Scott was the gold standard for an instructor. A true master instructor.

Care to point out where I lied about your Bond stuff? Calling someone a liar is pretty strong.

We are two very different dudes. You say anything that you think makes you look good, which it often doesn't, and I speak the truth as precisely as I can.
