Only Locks is SVB

Anyone else on the team is a toss up.

I have admired Earl's game ever since I watched him beat the Great Buddy Hall in the early 80's. Unbelievable talent.

But his lack of respect for other players is such a downer for me.

When you represent your country you need to show some respect which Earl seems to have not learned.

He should never be on another Mosconi Cup team. Remove the cancer to save the patient.

SVB
Oscar D.
Mike Davis
Tommy Kennedy (very solid play during BB, this guy still has the nuts)
Earl (there, I said it)

SVB is a no brainer. Oscar D. is due. Mike Davis has experience and still regularly beats many of the "young guns" mentioned in other posts. Tommy Kennedy ended up one of the top ranked players durning Bonus Ball...he is about as strong as he ever was. And despite all the criticism, Earl remains one of the strongest players in the U.S. and does better than most in his MC appearances.

I like Shuffett, Woodard, Hall and Bergman, but I don't think they're ready for this type of format/pandemonium yet.

This seems an unusual point of view from someone displaying such an obvious military avatar. What is the average age of combat soldiers that you send out into the world. I'll wager it is way below what any Mosconi newcomers are. Of course young players will handle the pressure. Or is Blackpool a more frightening prospect than Helmond Province

I like this group, with the honorable mentions, too. Have the whole bunch work together with Mark for a while, and pick your team from there.

My Mosconi Team

SVB
Dechaine (I watched him give some killer the 7 ball at the DCC-impressive.)
Bergman
Bartram
Compton

To, me SVB, Dechaine, and Bergman have to be on there. However, I would not object to Oscar, Shuff, or Joey Gray

I would say that I have seen Chip play tough players for the cheese, and he looked totally fearless...maybe he has the mental make up to excel in the pressure packed environment of the Mosconi Cup.

Also, when Dechaine was giving Ruslan Chinakhov the 7, Dechaine was breaking from the box...I believe.

Bergman has been learning/working with Mark since he was eleven years old.

Hard to place Duel in the mix since he just got the 5,6 from SVB and lost.

Also, I like Bartram very much, but he is more of a gambler than a tournament player. Put him in the box for the cash and I think he can hang with anyone. IMO

Players go through cycles. Have a wish list now, but watch how the time/players evolve up to the Mosconi Cup arrives and chose from that knowledge.

A little more seasoning from some on those lists need to happen before they can jump in the frying pan with some of the European monsters.

My MC team is whatever team Mark Wilson decides will best represent the USA. I have total confidence the team he picks will be ready, will act in a professional manner, and will be one we Americans can be proud of, win or lose.

The only person I would bet on being on the team is SVB. Shane is such a great player that I would have to say he is a lock for sure.

Out side of that I really think it's a toss up. I agree with some here that say Bergman has a shot. He definitely has the skill. I think there will be a surprise or two when it comes down to it.

I am looking forward to hearing who Mark has chosen to represent the USA. I think we are going to have a great Mosconi Cup this year.

Well, one thing's for sure, if Mark Wilson manages to put together a winning team for Team USA on foreign turf, he will be the Pool Prophet that all of us will be following.

Meanwhile, Earl Strickland, the most winning-est player in my lifetime, 5-time U.S. Open 9-Ball Champion, multiple world championships from around the globe, actually played well this Mosocni Cup. When he was teamed up with Shane, they both had a good inning.

The Earl haters can continue to hate, but Earl sells tickets. Aside from Jeanette Lee, he's probably the most well-known American player there is. Any event he walks into, all eyes are on Earl. He's a living legend.

Earl Strickland shot well last Mosconi Cup.

Hater are going to hate, but when it comes to Earl, can't touch this.

I don't think anyone doubts Earls skill. He is the best offensive player that I have ever seen. But just because some people would rather see someone else represent their country doesn't mean they are haters either.

I think Earl is the best, but not best for the team. Obviously we will never agree on this and you will probably consider me a pro basher for saying it. Carry on.

Mark's guidance will be a major factor but ultimately it's the players who get it done.

That's a matter of perspective... I've played Shuff and can attest to his skill as a world class monster...I've seen Dechaine play many times and his skill is undeniable. I'd put both of them above several of the young guns in raw fire power (by a hair, admittedly), but both wilted under their first MC experience. I won't complain if they get picked, I'll be cheering loudest. But I really want some guys that know what pressure is, at least this next cup...

I think we need to bring a team that all has HUGE breaks. Races to 5 are a crap shoot, but if we have a bunch of great breakers, that can help to even our odds a bit.

Earl still can play, but his crying and sniveling damages any team he is on. He sure would not be on my team.

As far as the Mosconi Cup goes, my thought is it should be based on points & merit not popularity.

If that were the case, many of the guys who have played the last few years wouldn't have made it then, either.

Beyond Shane, of course.
