I remember back in 2017 by the end of December we had received over 180" of snow , we also had winds over 70 mph which drifted in every coulee and many narrow valleys as well as some that weren't so narrow !I don't often see two dry winters in succession, so this winter could be a doozy.
I know, crap in one hand and wish in the other.
See which one weighs the most.![]()
I've not ridden my snowmobile in 3 years mainly as I don't like riding alone in case if something breaks to save me a long walk out in deep snow , yes I've done it a time or two over the years it's not as much fun as it could be .
It seems that when we do get some nice moisture it suddenly stops , the grass grows like crazy then dry lightning strikes happen one of the last fires like that burned up more than 400,000 acres wiping out houses , out buildings and livestock , and hay yards some families just bought their kids school supplies and new cloths ..... That all was burned up in the Lone Tree Complex Fire .
The majority of the timber that burned up will never return as this is truly high alpine desert and once those fires get into the deep breaks you can't get in there to fight it dipper or skimmer planes can but the water level of Fort Peck may not be conducive for that to happen ?
