Yes.

Someone made a video on FB of all of the first day's breaks, showing only the breaks. Doung was clearly WAY slower than Shaw in all of the breaks. It wasn't even close. I can't tell if the ref called any of them illegal. The video creater had his own commentary of what was ok, and what was bad, and it was covering up if the ref took any action.

With that background info, I could def see Shaw going nuts if HE was called for a slow break on Day 2, especially if Doung wasn't called for any on Day 1.

ps, what was the final count?

equipment can only improve your game a tiny bit. most changes will change you for the worst.

besides none here are going to be top pros because of the talent factor and dedication.
concentrate on your game not what you can buy.

I would like to add that for a player of his caliber his safety game seemed quite suspect to me, which might have been a factor in him never winning a major title.

For sure it wasn't his offense.

he gave good reasons why not to go. to go there the prize fun has to be much large to attract players from a far.

your foreign earnings are double taxed. you can deduct the tax from your gross not from what you owe in us tax. so you do pay less tax on your gross but more tax overall.

besides what he does is for his benefit, not fans .

That was pretty much what I got and think the video intended....since the cue is approx. the width of the table it somewhat works...(notice however both shots he actually hits rail first not directly into the ball)

I much prefer the mini mirror method (some call it the X method I think).....much better than the full mirror....... as you also mentioned...many rooms there is not enough room to make that extended cue manuvior he demonstrates.......The mini mirror you never leave the bed of the table for the visualization.

It is convenient once you have that three rail "wall spot" reference in a home room

of course no matter what method you use...it only gets you close enough to adjust for conditions.

like him or not he is playing for 15 g's and that is big money to him.

he is supposed to do things to upset his opponent or at least try to do it in subtle ways. he is gambling and wanting to win. not playing for a cup or coffee or table time.

its an old time game the new world of people have moved past it. along with horseshoes and croquet,

pool would be gone as well but leagues seemed to have given it a new life.

As for the original post, this isn't anything new. Zuglan's northeast tour has been going strong for what seems like decades now and the top players make some good money playing there. I believe first place is usually around $1200.

The only thing that would turn off so many people about these tours is the fact that many are handicapped. I truly believe there is a place for tours without the need of handicapping. But it would take someone with some deep pockets and running in the red for a while before something like that takes off.

I bowled Collegiate at NDSU. My opinion of Bowlero is just a string of 4 letter words. I've watched them buy out and ruin great houses.
They've totally destroyed the game and the will of a small amount of houses and organizers are hanging on by their fingernails.

I have never liked Shaw.

His actions and mannerisms always make him seem like a jerk.

I root for his opponent every time he plays.

the average regular pool player is not your market in this business unless selling chalk or gloves.

what needs is to change the business so they can also partake in the spending part.

there are ways to make the purse pool huge. but it needs some creative mind or minds to do it. the major hurdle which is a monster to overcome to get some outside money in with the current batch of pro players.

they are a bunch of stoic robots, that no one that isnt a total pool nut will stand to watch for more than a short time.
they need a handler to change all that and control it so the crowd is really partners of the game. and more.

and arrange to have more things going on than just a race of 9 ball. seen one you've seen them all.

many ways to get big numbers watching and interested in participating for bigger dollars. only bigger dollars brings more people. i thought for a short time a ways back, of making the worlds biggest payouts and participation but realized i would have to fight all the nay sayers, and the work needed.
not worth it for most anyone.

pool people think too small. there are still many talking about 1000 or two, dollar prize payouts. that isnt even the size of a decent horse bet on a big race. or a hand in an action medium stakes poker pot. or any gamblers bet on a football game.

i hope jay comes up with something. he can do it.
